IMHO, Ella is simply at her most glorious when singing just with piano accompaniment (in this case, Paul Smith). Hard to call the album a “soundtrack,” since in the film she sang only 2 or 3 of these songs. But the whole album is so good that it’s worth bringing up in the thread.
@Saturn94
Is that a remake on the Yul Brynner film The King & I? By the cover art it seems to have a similar theme. I haven’t thought of that film since I was a kid. Yul used to fascinate me. It likely had a decent soundtrack also - I don’t have it.
The soundtrack to Terence Fisher’s horror film wasn’t released on disc until 2002. One of Hammer Studios’ legendary stable of horror films, this movie stars Christopher Lee as a paranormal investigator who looks into a Satan-worshipping cult in London in 1929.
I think I know what you mean.
But the story is simply ingenious. If you want to watch this kind of film, take a look at “2010”, the follow-up. Very exciting, with Roy Scheider.
It’s not necessary to watch “2001”, but much more interesting then…
I got 2010 in the DVD collection. It was added by my son. So I’m going to watch it soon. Another movie similar to 2001 is “cargo”. I don’t know if the finally find the monster. I died before the end of the movie.
