Describe the issue

I'm experiencing drop outs and freezes sporadicly-- several times a week. This happens with internet radio station (any and all), Qobuz, and files from the Nucleus. The solution seems to be cold shut down of my Nucleus and reboot. I will also restart the modem and router as I suspect this may be a network issue.

My system is a Nucleus, with the following endpoints: a McIntosh MAC7200 via hdmi, a Marantz SR 7015 hard wired, a Marantz M-CR612 via wifi and a WiiM amp via wifi. There are three TP Link switches on the network.

Describe your network setup

My system is a Nucleus, with the following endpoints: a McIntosh MAC7200 via hdmi, a Marantz SR 7015 hard wired, a Marantz M-CR612 via wifi and a WiiM amp via wifi. The modem is a Net Gear CM700, the wifi router is a Net Gear AX18. . There are three TP Link switches on the network.

Which Nucleus is it?
How much RAM does it have?
How many tracks are in your library?

Hello @Peter_Armstrong

I think the next step here is to enable some diagnostics on your account so our technical staff can get some more insight into what’s going on here.

However, before I enable this feature, I’d like to ask for your help ensuring we gather the right information.

First, can you please reproduce the issue once more and note the time at which the error occurs. Then respond here with that time, and I’ll make sure we review the diagnostics related to that timestamp.

Will do. I’ll stream internet radio all day and now hope for the problem. It is the dreaded intermittent problem, so I will try to be vigilant. When it does occur the dropouts happen ever few minutes.

Rev B on the Nucleus, 16,188 tracks.

Hi @Peter_Armstrong,

In addition to the tests above, we’d be curious to see if you experience the same issue no matter the endpoint being used - if you only stream to the system output of your phone or remote device, do you experience the same dropouts?

If you can temporarily hardwire your endpoint connections as well, that’d be an excellent test as well. We’ll be on standby for your reply! :raising_hands:

Over the last three days Roon streaming has stopped completely.
All times are central standard time, USA:
Tuesday between 9am and 10:20 am… we were out of the house,
Wednesday between 10:50 and noon…
Thursday at 7:35 am

Any endpoint , one hard wired, two Wi-Fi, one connected directly to the
Nucleus via usb.
Streaming internet radio , Classical MPR.

Update:
Approximately 8:15 this morning streaming to the Marantz AVR stopped. It is grouped with the Marantz M CR612.

The MCR612 responds to volume and mute commands, while the AVR Does not respond. These endpoints operate over AirPlay in believe.

The MAC7200 streaming files from the Nucleus playing uninterrupted, the WiiM streaming internet radio works fine.

Update 2:
The Marantz AVR powered off— by itself— powering on and it now plays fine.

Update 3: now, streaming music briefly dropped out came back on on Marantz units, WiiM is still off. MAC7200 playing ok.

Hey @Peter_Armstrong,

Thanks for all the updates and timestamps. From a recent diagnostic report, we see the WiiM failing frequently due to too many dropouts. We’re also seeing your Bedroom Zone showing the most signs of a shaky connection:

Warn: [zone BEDROOM] Track Stopped Due to Slow Media

Which endpoints do you have tied to the Bedroom zone?

Overall, we’re still seeing the buffer of most tracks right at 100%, so the issue isn’t between your Roon Server and upstream services, but more so the connection between your devices within your local network. If you temporarily disable the WiiM as well as the Marantz AVR, do you still run into issues?

Thank you! :raising_hands:
