Yes, although not quite the back yard, but it is next level pricing beyond even Lumin.
I ordered the DMP-A8 and now I’m worried about Roon support. Can someone confirm that Roon will see it as an endpoint and still work but they aren’t marketing it as Roon capable yet until they pass certification? Or does this straight up not work with Roon currently?
Look like it’s not Roon Ready , this is the Eversolo Partners page, the DMP-A6 is but not the DMP-A8 (yet ??) it may be work in progress but Roon will not comment until complete
As I recall, the DMP A6 was not roon ready on release but came through later.
Not uncommon for products to launch while still waiting for the certification.
The A6 worked perfectly at first customer ship. However, they were claiming Roon Ready before completing the actual certification with Roon. So my question is - does the A8 work with Roon now? I don’t expect Eversolo to make the same mistake twice and advertise Roon Ready until they are certified. But I thought devices can still operate as a Roon endpoint while working through the certification process?
I guess if it has Airplay / Chromecast built in, then you can play to it from Roon, with the obvious sample rate/bit depth limitations.
The DMP A6 was incorrectly recognised as a Zidoo player (same company) which was certified. Eversolo got wrapped for it I believe and it lost it until the real one came through. This won’t have anything if they adhered to the rules. There seems to be a large backlog for certification so don’t expect it soon. It will work with Airplay and CC if it has that though.
It never stopped working. I had one of the first units and it worked throughout the whole debacle. But you are correct that it reported itself as a Zidoo unit in the beginning.
In any event, I canceled the A8 order for now. I have a lifetime subscrition to Roon and I don’t want to stop using it, even if its for a short while. The A6ME is quite capable for now.
Thanks for all of the replies.
@Psyclops If you’ve already gotten your new system…hope you are enjoying it! If you haven’t…you should audition some Estelon and Magico speakers. Like you…I’ve been a long time B&W owner and have owned 3 sets. I’m also about to setup a new system, and went to audition the 801 D4’s last weekend. The dealer suggested I also listen to the Estelon and Magico while there…and I was blown away!
I know sound is subjective for everyone, but for me, in that room, with that gear, on that day…it wasn’t even close. Both of these were leagues above the B&W sound.
