Does have somebody a working solution for that?
All digital…D/A convert in the Meridian DSP`s
Source is TIDAL or QOBUZ via ROON
Stream with a Trinnov Altitude32
Speakers are Meridian Digital speakers with ability to render MQA
My goal/question is :
Trinnov streamer
Roon DECODE MQA
Meridian DSP render MQA
With a Meridan streamer it works as i get confirmed,
but will it work also with a Trinnov Streamer ?
Whats your experience, recommandations or comment ?
sounds logic to me in that way-thanks.
One point is interesting is postzed in the HH forum. When a M streamer is used and ROON make the DECODE and even then the DSP processing(for room correction),
then the Meridan DSP make the rendereing. But the st6atement are not very tight and that discussion is some years old.
It would be interesting who can tell more.
Joel, you are talken fropm practical experiences or test or not ?
And which hardware/fw is invalved ?
And most of all, does it really make a difference compared when ROON still make the MQA decoding and the Trinnov do the room-.and correct the sound of the hardware itself as Trinnov “measure/calibrate” the whole sound.

Just saying how it should be set up. My systems are all Meridian. In my 5k2SE system, I stream directly to a 218 and let it decode. In my 8kSE system, I decode and apply room correction notch filters in Roon, then send that to my 818v3.
If the Trinnov is doing room correction, it will destroy MQA rendering; the best you are going to achieve is doing the first MQA decode in Roon and ignore rendering. In general, Trinnovs are not compatible with MQA unless you run them without any processing whatsoever, which obviously defeats the point of having a Trinnov. I know you’ve been trying to find a solution for some time, but the hard truth is that rendered MQA + Trinnov (with RC) + Meridian just isn’t possible.
My room correction solution is to use a G68 to create Meridian Room Correction notch filters and then transfer the filter parameters (including one derived value that I have to calculate) into Roon’s DSP engine.
thanks or your very detailed answers and infos !!
Sorry to ask you some even very …question_
1)My info - because M puplish that so - is that the 218 is a ZONE controler not more.
So in front of the 218 a “streamer” is needed, like a ID41 card in a proper M processor-
Thats are a 808v6 or 818v but NOT a 861 to use it for MQA !
Is all that true ??
You post that you use the 218 and send that to the data to the 818V3 ?
Shoudnt the 818V3 the first to receive the stream, and then the 218 is the ZONE controler and then its go to the 5k2SE ? And that speaker can decode AND render the MQA data.
Ia that correct ?
When you use room correction, you let the G68 to measure the RC data and take that parameters inside the TOON room correction `?
But where the is the ROON (RC data from G68) is used in the chain ?
And why then the MQA stream will NOT get destroyed as like the Trinnovprocessing destroy the MQA stream ? Both change the pure MQA strean, so what is the difference ?
Joel, ia, super confuest, please help here to explain the HW component and wired chain and the sw decoding and RC processing to.
Sorry for all that confusion and lot questions
You can stream directly to a 218 from Roon (and Sooloos) only. I’m not sure what the M term “Zone Controller” actually means.
why then the MQA stream will NOT get destroyed as like the Trinnov processing
Roon is still, AFAIK, the only product (software or hardware) which can decode MQA, apply certain forms of DSP, and then add back the signalling information necessary for rendering. Not even Meridian has a room correction solution which is compatible with full decode and rendering of MQA.
A big thanks.
I get complete confused_
Your options
Roon (pure) in a 218 and Dk5SE
ROON (with Room-correction) in a 818V3 and further to the speaker-
So option 2) is fot room correction, both options work with full MQA.
And option 1) is for stereo and use the SL inut on the mastzer speaker
Option 2 is Multichannel or modes like Trifield and run int the 818V3 which input ?
Both are stereo systems which simplifies things a LOT.
The 5kSE system doesn’t need room correction.
The 8kSE system is in a room where the bass excites the stud walls… Short of re-building the room, the only solution is not to put out the troublesome bass frequencies in the first place.
