Streaming DSD 512 on Qobuz and Tidal causes loading errors (ref#V30S3S)

Describe the issue

When upsampling- streaming dsd 512 on qobuz and tidal I keep getting "qobuz or tidal is loading slowly…." Then the song skips to the next track and the same error repeats. When I switch to dsd 256 there are no issues. I recently purchased the nucleus one and have 1 gig internet speed. I have unplugged and shut down but did not help. Can you assist? This has been happening all week ever since I started using the new nucleus one. Thanks, Roy

Describe your network setup

Provider is Spectrum. Router sercomm sax2v1r. Modem Hilton technologies EN2251. English Electric 8switch Ethernet switch. Network Acoustic ENO. Holo audio red streamer. Holo audio spring 3 KTE DAC. Nucleus one.

Just another user here, wondering if you‘ve got Parallelize Sigma-Delta modulator at the bottom of your screenshot set to yes, and what the processing speed indication in the signal path pop-up shows when the error occurs.
I‘d suggest to also try and replace your boutique network cable with a simple standard one just for a quick test.

Hi… parralize set to “no” currently. What does that function do? I’m new to roon so still very much learning. Will check the process speed. Appreciate the help!

Process speed needs to be at least 1.2x or higher for it to run trouble free.
Sounds like this is likely the cause if 256 plays fine.
Please post a screenshot of your signal path so we can see what else might be going on here.
Thanks

It lets Roon more efficiently utilize available cores to increase processing speed.

This may be worth mentioning

My first suggestion is to remove that eno ethernet filter and see if it makes a difference.

You are upsampling to DSD 512 which is DSP, and because of the processing power needed above and beyond 256, it might be too much for the One.

Does it stutter if you are using a local file instead of streaming?

Hi, when the Parallelize Sigma-Delta modulator is set to no the process speed is 0.6 when set yes it’s 1.2 and works fine. Does having the Parallelize Sigma-Delta modulator set to yes does effect sound quality? Is there a way to increase the process speed perhaps in settings. See pic of signal path with the Parallelize Sigma-Delta modulator set to no.

No, it’s an indicator of the hardware capabilities. Below 1 (or 1.2 with a safety margin), the processing of the samples is slower than realtime, so you get issues. Like I posted above, in the Nucleus One specs it says that “certain combinations of functions using DSD, upsampling, or multi-channel processing may not be possible”, and DSD512 is asking a lot.

It’s not supposed to though some people say it does (but then some people say that wooden pyramids also do). Lots of posts if you search the forum for Parallelize Sigma-Delta modulator. Anyway, you may not have a choice if you insist on DSD512.

On my old Antipodes server I had to run with it on to hit 1.3 with dsd512.
I honestly never noticed any SQ artifacts or anything of the sort.
It then would run all day every day at 1.3x without a single hiccup.

All that is doing is telling the computer to use more cores in the processing.

Setting it to yes worked. Thank you!

Thanks all! Setting the Parallelize Sigma-Delta modulator to yes seems to be the fix and all the other info was helpful. Looking forward to diving deeper into the Roon experience.
