Aeries G2

Number of Tracks in Library

None, Qobuz and Tidal only

Description of Issue

Very choppy/stuttering playback from both Tidal and Qobuz.

It’s not my internet. If I use the Lightning app (Aurelic default app) I can stream from both servces absolutely flawlessly, using all the same network path.

As soon as I go back and use the Nucleus it’s unlistenable.

I also have the Auralic Aries G2 (firmware 9.1). Often I have to turn on my NUC, give it 60 seconds, and then cold boot the G2 (using the rear power switch). If I do not, Qobuz just stops mid song.

Thanks for the reply, it just seems to me to be absurd that I stream flawlessly with the Aeries directly and the addition of the Roon Nucleus makes streaming unlistenable.

Constant rebooting of devices is not an acceptable solution.

I like some of the features of Roon but this Nucleus will have to be returned. I want to listen for pleasure not frustration.

Cheers,

Hey @Michael_Hanson,

Ben with the support team, apologies for the delay in getting to your thread!

As a next step in testing, could you please try hardwiring your Nucleus directly to your router, and see if the issue occurs?

If you do run into stuttering again, could you please share a more specific date, time, and track playing? That’ll be helpful to have to better review core diagnostics.

I’ll be monitoring this thread for your reply. :+1:

Thanks Ben, yes my Nucleus is directly connected to my router. I will play some tonight and sent you details on times and tracks when stuttering occurs. Be back soon.

Cheers,

Ok Ben, I have uploaded some video showing within the same 2 minutes, Roon via Nucleus is unlistenable compared to streaming from the Aurelic.

Let me know your thoughts.

Audio Files

I can tell you it is not a bandwidth issue.

Hey @Michael_Hanson,

Based on the information you’ve provided, we found the below errors in correlation to the timestamp shared:

Warn: FTMSI-B-OE qo/DF688926: poor connection kbps:5069.0 (min:6974.0)

And with that, lots of Airplay/MDNS (multicast) requests, once every second, suggesting that Multicast is likely not working properly:

Trace: [MMH-HiFi] [HighQuality 41.7x, 24/176 QOBUZ FLAC => 16/44] [100% buf] [PLAYING @ 0:10/11:33] Mediterranean Sundance/Rio Ancho - Paco de Lucía / Al Di Meola / John McLaughlin / Ramón de Algeciras / Gómes Ramón Sánchez

What router model are you using? I would investigate any Multicast settings you have enabled within the router settings. Test out disabling any features related to multicast (unless it’s something like “enable multicast over wifi”) or IGMP snooping.

I’ll be on standby for your reply. Thanks!

I will check this tonight. Just cant understand how the Aurelic streams flawlessly and Nucleus does not under identical conditions.

I have model Fios-G1100 . I can find no setting in the router related to multicast. The only airplay related settings I can find anywhere in my network are in the Aurelic G2 streamer where Airplay must be activated along with Roon Ready to enable the Aurelic to see the Nucleus.

I just sat here at 12:40 PM and listened to two or three songs with no issue. I changed albums (with the same bit rate) and the next songs are unlistenable.

I suspect there is some hardware issue with the Nucleus.

here is two more examples with timestamps

Two

Not much point in buing a very expensive streamer and then utilizing it for Airplay?
Disable Airplay in Auralic Settings, and make sure you Enable Roon Ready…

Then enable the Auralic Zone under Roon Ready

Thank you @Mikael_Ollars this seems to have solved it, at least for now. Ill observe for a few days but this is encouraging.

Best wishes.

Mike.
