Tag Maintenance

The original post has been closed , this is still a niggling omission

I re imported this box , previously I had created a Tag “The Brahms Edition” the correct name of the set

Later I deleted the Tag , there are several issues

  1. I can no longer create a Tag of the same name even though the previous Tag has been deleted
  2. The Old Tag remains on the album page , but when clicked on I get

Obviously but there is no way to remove it and the clutter it causes

So I have to create a “less accurate” Tag name to allow this to exist but cannot get rid of the old one

There is a need to allow clean up and re-use of the Tag names , we need o be able to remove the redundant tag from the Album Page

The only reason for messing around like this is the poor box set handling capabilities of Roon I may add

I had something similar and rebooting the core fixed it.

Unfortunately I have to reboot my core frequently often 2-3 times a day depending upon our Power Utility
(Google Eskom)

It does NOT fix this issue , somehow tags are stored in a way that cannot be managed easily

Sounds like the sort of issue that the ‘Clean Up Library’ button should fix, but doesn’t.

This can happen if a tag has been applied to an album that is not available anymore I’ve found. Have you tried cleaning your library and then rebooting the core and then try deleting that tag?

When this happened to me I had to go to the files and clear the ROONALBUMTAG field.

@Rugby Yes and Yes no change

@crowlem - I will try that but I am not sure that those concerned have ROONALBUMTAGS

Ha Ha that works , but you cannot delete the Tag reference in the Album from within Roon Album screen it errors saying that Tag doesn’t Exist

This is a long standing “issue”. I prevaricate as to whether I keep big boxes in Roon and occasionally remove them , causing this issue

It sounds like a very long standing issue I have with a ROONTRACKTAG that I deleted that Roon still displays on some tracks. When I click on it, Roon says it doesn’t exist. I’ve tried everything I can think of, but Roon refuses to stop displaying the deleted tag. I finally gave up.

That’s why I raised it again its been there since the year dot !!

Yeah it is frustrating, you can’t get rid of them in the software, you have to go to the files themselves.

Even deleting the offending tag in the files did not work for me. :frowning:
