Description of Issue

Hi,

I can see my Roon Bridge in Settings/About.

I don’t see any devices under Audio for RoonBridge.

RoonBridge is active and my TEAC AI-101DA USB DAC is a default audio device.

What can I do to make it visible under Settings->Audio in Roon?
Regards Claus

Have you tried an alternative cable and different USB ports on the (RPi?) streamer.

A little more detail, as requested in the template, would be helpful.

Hello Martin,
yes… I tried the obvious things to insure everything works like before.
Nothing changed in my configuration.
The only thing that changed, was the software updates from Roon.
My config:
Windows 11 64 bit connected to my roon qnap server.
Please notice … other devices work fine.!
My problem… see above.
Regards Claus

It’s still not entirely clear how everything is setup, which is why there’s a template in the opening post. It would be helpful if you completed this. For instance, is the NAS your core, and. Roon Bridge running on the Windows PC? Or something else?

sorry for this… but your template will not help in this case!
My windows 11 pc worked fine with Roon using my qnap nas in my network together with my TEAC USB DAC.
This situation changed after the Roon software changed and Roon Bridge was invented.
If I use Spotify or any other streaming Software everything works. If I use the Qnap steaming software everything is fine.
So, why is the Roon Software not able to find my DAC connected to the same hardware where Roon is installed where as this was no problem in the past.

Hi @Claus_Lange ,

Apologies for the slow response here.

Is your TEAC connected to your Windows 11 or your QNAP? Is the issue the same if you try to temporarily host the Roon Core on your Windows PC?

  • Create a Backup of your current database
  • Open Roon on the other PC you wish to try as the Core
  • Roon Settings → General
  • Disconnect
  • On the “Choose your Core” screen, press “Use this PC”
  • If asked to Unauthorize, you can go ahead and do so. You are limited to one active Roon Core at a time but you are free to switch between them as often as you’d like
  • Verify if the same behavior occurs on the different PC

Also, please ensure you have the proper firewall exceptions in place for Roon on your Windows PC. I would verify that both Roon.exe and RAATServer.exe have been added as exceptions to your Windows firewall.

You can use these instructions to add the exceptions and the executables themselves would be located in your Database Location/Application folder path.

I would also add these exceptions to any Antivirus or other Firewall blocking applications you may have and ensure that you connected to your network via a Private network, not a Public one, see this guide for more information.

Hi @noris

My PC(I only have this one) worked fine in the past with elder versions of Roon Core installed.
After updating my software to Roon V.2 my USB DAC was not visible in Roon Core anymore and therefore could not be used.
I assumed that Roon Bridge could be a solution, which I tried but this did not work either. (This is why I opened a ticket).
I deleted Roon Bridge and now I still have the same problem.
If my problem cannot be solved, which seems to be the case, I would like to give back my Roon licence because it’s not of any use for me.
I hope you understand my situation.
Regards Claus

Do you’ve tried to install ASIO drivers for your Teac DAC?

Yes, I did… Asio4all….

Hi @Claus_Lange ,

Are you still seeing this issue at the present time? The issue is likely to do with your firewall on the Windows PC or the installation on the QNAP. I would suggest trying to use the Windows PC as the Core:

  • Open Roon on your Windows PC
  • Roon Settings → General
  • Disconnect
  • On the “Choose your Core” screen, press “Use this PC”
  • If asked to Unauthorize, you can go ahead and do so. You are limited to one active Roon Core at a time but you are free to switch between them as often as you’d like
  • Verify if the same behavior occurs when using the Windows PC as a Core

Also, please double-check that when asked, you allow Roon access through your Windows Firewall settings, you can review these here:

Ensure this is set to Private:

Hi @Noris,

it is very anoying to see the lack of responce Roon Support delivers.

For this I want to give back my licence!

Nobody seems to be interested to read the describtions I submitted.

After waiting for months now, I do not see anybody of Roon willing or capeable to help me.

My Solution is to give back my Roon Licence.

I hope somebody understands?

Regards Claus

@Claus_Lange, I can understand your frustration, however, it would be really helpful if you answered the questions presented to you in earlier replies. For instance, you never completed the template provided, which helps others to help you, nor the information @noris requested.

Hello Martin,
Which question/section asked in the template is not clear to you.
My configuration has been descibed more than once. What do you not understand?
Why do you recommend firewall exeptions if I stated before, that the Roon client worked fine before V2. Nothing changed in my configuration but your software!
So, what do we do now?
Which section of your Template should be filled out?
And then… how do we continue?
I am frustrated… thats right!
Regards

Please note that I am a community member, and volunteer moderator, and not an employee of Roon Labs.

The template is there to provide details in one place, so those assisting can glean information readily.

Insisting that the template won’t help is counterproductive, resulting in queries about your setup; it may not have changed, but it’s not evident how things are setup. Likewise, you haven’t confirmed if you tried any of the fault finding steps.

I’ll leave you in the capable hands of Roon support.

Martin,
it is obvious to try the hints given… which I did of course!
Please answer my questions… if you can. My configuration is clearly described.
Windows 11 Pc, network, qnap server where the library resides. DAC connected to the WIN11 PC. Thats it… easy, plain forward.
Problem: The Roon client on the Windows PC does not show the DAC in the configuration. That is why the DAC cannot be used.
Regards
