So, in the process of reconnecting with vinyl I am also rediscovering my fairly extensive vinyl collection. Here’s one that I forgotten I owned. A nice clean remastering of a true classic, which never sounded all that good on the original US pressings.
For all us old timers, something from when vinyl was king:
What is the most important information in that photo?
For bonus points: what is the record? There are several clues present but here are a few more - great record with fantastic sound.
Robert Cray “Strong Persuader”
And it is all important information!!
And yes it is a great album.
My highschool symphony band had 150+ people in it. Some would have the music memorized quicker than others.
The drummers weren’t what I would call shy, so I heard a lot about this guy with like 18 -censored- arms man.
My local record store had this LP for the same price as their latest release.
My copy has seen better days.
Ah, that brings back memories. Proust had a point.
Almost every cut on that album got heavy FM, when FM was still cool, air play.
I was looking through some vinyl when I stumbled across a Record Store Day (2017) Dead boxset. The retailer still had one unopened even and had it at 35% off. The check out person said, yeah no one knows we sell records.
Now I know.
Seriously?
And where do you live?
Might be a road trip!
Lmao…
Yeah, it started with an email from an online place stating they had 3 copies. But the price made me laugh.
I threw the barcode out as a google search. and my local Target had a copy. Winner winner, chicken dinner.
Funny you should say that as I have bought some good deals at my local Target as well but I usually forget all about them selling vinyl as well
Sounds like a trip tomorrow is on the cards.
I left because they actually had a lot of things I was thinking well . . .
I love that artwork. It’s nice that all the previous albums are squeezed in one way or another. I think they also used the same female model from the ‘Permanent Waves’ album cover.
I read somewhere that Hugh Syme originally wanted the artwork to be a black cover, with just the pink tail of Snagglepuss ( catchphrase “Exit Stage Left”) but Hanna-Barbera said no.
I’m actually glad that they did
Annual listening event to welcome in the warmer weather. This is my favorite version of The Rite of Spring.
Le Sacre du Printemps, Stravinsky
Bernstein, London Symphony Orchestra, 1972, on Columbia
Love this band, very nice record!
And see this post for further details:
Winner!
Very tempting, hope to get my hands on this on Saturday!
