Thought this would be the right place for this very cool double album Tangerine Dream picture disc set.
Looks better in real life than the photo shows.

Do you like Pic Disks? Common wisdom used to be they had worse SQ. Do you agree?
It may have been psychological for me as I always believed that too. I also wouldn’t buy coloured vinyl if it was offered in black too. These days I’m not so sure when I listen to the ones I have.
I think that and the colored vinyl myth has been debunked.
After all, black vinyl is colored vinyl. Raw vinyl is almost clear.
Like @garye I used to steer well clear of any picture records for the supposedly worse SQ reasons.
However now I’m older, although likely no wiser, it may just have been a huge myth after all.
I don’t own many but this one for example sounds pretty darn decent to my old ears.
Perhaps it all coincided with some of the crap quality of vinyl they were producing in 70s and 80s and the picture got the bad rap.
I believe they still use Carbon Black to make black records.
Which is likely a little inferior to clear if it really mattered.
I think most modern pressings not matter what the finish unless a mofi one are very similar right now in SQ with regards to the actual record material.
It’s again all in the master recording.
Have to set my Garrard up with it’s mono cartridge as have a few freshly cleaned mono records I want to spin.
That’s next.
Lol
Even I don’t have any CD video discs or Laserdiscs.
I know some here will find that hard to believe
Nobody in this thread believes that for a moment
The record store I shopped at last week had quite a pile of Laserdisc for sale, even some good live concerts.
No, I was not tempted…
What about my star shaped Police Picture Disk?
What’s it play like?
I have one picture single that plays horrible and sounds like it plays.
But it’s pretty funky so I framed it instead and it now just hangs up in my music room…lol
I had a load of odd shaped picture disc’s.
I wonder how they have held up after nearly 40 years on the record boxes
Or my Prince one
I’m sure they will sound as good as they ever did…you know you are going to cave sooner or later
I actually haven’t looked in years, but, I bet those 3 discs together alone are worth some money.
Well my new amp has two vinyl inputs an mm and mc
