Describe the issue

Core is a Mac Mini M1 on MacOS 15.5 w/ 16GB RAM Library is on an external 4TB Samsung SSD Storage.

Hi Roonfolk! This is strange one. I can play any album, any artist, as long as it's in the main album section. If I go into singles/eps/bootlegs/any other, etc., the program crashes. I know it sounds odd..I can reproduce it. I have rebooted, restarted the Core app, cleaned the library, to no avail.

Hey @Joe_Strain,

Thanks for writing in and for sharing your report! We’ve enabled diagnostics mode for your account, and what this action does is send a set of logs that will automatically be generated and uploaded to our servers for analysis.

Based on this recent diagnostic report, we found the crashes you’re referring to - the good news is that it doesn’t seem to be server-related. Let’s refresh your Roon (not Roon Server) database and see if that clears up the issue for you. Note that this action will not affect anything related to your library edits or customizations. :+1:

  • Create a Backup of your current database
  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon”
  • Rename the “Roon” folder to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
  • Verify if the issue persists

We’ll be monitoring for your reply, thanks Joe! :folded_hands:

Thanks for your prompt response., @benjamin . If I download from the main page, will I lose early access? Also, should I shut down both the program itself, as well as the server applet running on the macos taskbar?

Download from the EA link, then

Hi @Joe_Strain,

@Suedkiez is correct - you can use the early access download link in this case, just make sure all your Roon devices are running early access.

https://help.roonlabs.com/portal/en/kb/articles/roon-early-access-program#Updating_Windows_or_macOS_Roon_Servers_or_remotes_to_earlyaccess

(it would be good to see if this issue occurs for you on Production as well, but we can wait on this)

Closing Roon Server doesn’t hurt either - let us know how the above goes! :+1:

@Suedkiez Thanks for the tip. That was really a sily question from me LOL

@benjamin Thank you again for your reply. I can report that I installed the latest production version, and, though a few of my settings changed, I’m happy to say that the problem seems to have been resolved!

Just for my own knowledge, is there anything from the logs that you guys saw on your end that pointed towards the root cause of the issue. I’d love to know, as perhaps it was something tht I may be able to prevent in the future…Thanks again!

Hello @Joe_Strain,

Could you please clarify whether by “latest production” you mean the Early Access (EA) build or the actual stable production version?

We reviewed the server logs only and did not find any unmanaged crashes.
As you’re currently running an EA build, it’s not unusual to encounter minor issues that are still being addressed before the stable release.

We’ve forwarded your topic to our QA team for review and reproduction. In the meantime, I’ll mark this topic as solved. Should the QA team have any follow-up questions, they will reach out to you directly.
