Description Of Issue
After working perfectly for many weeks, since a couple of day I cannot access Tidal anymore.
From all the devices (phones, pads and PC) if I access the Tidal pages I receive a red “Error Loading Page” message and the page is empty with Failed to load Album, Playlists, etc.
When launching Roon Radio I get an “Unexpected network error” when trying to play Tidal tracks and the radio gets forced to local library only.
Tidal account with HiFi subscription is perfectly working and I can access and stream from Tidal using any of the phones, tablets and the core PC itself.
I’ve already tried:
Rebooting the Core PC a few times
From Roon Configuration option logoff from Tidal and do a new login, I’ve tried this a few times from both the Core PC interface and the phones interface
Nothing has changed and the problem remains.
As mentioned in our Networking Guide, we recommend connecting your Core machine to the network via Ethernet whenever possible. If you connect via Ethernet is there any change here?
Do you have any active antivirus or firewall on the Core machine? If so, can you try disabling them temporarily and see if there is any change?
Hi @Dylan,
I’ve managed to do some further reboot/restart attempts and found out that the way to fix the issue has been:
From Roon interface log out from Tidal
Restart Roon (or even better reboot the Core server)
Login again into Tidal
Only with this sequence of operation Tidal has started working correctly again.
Any different sequence (i.e. restart Roon while logged in Tidal or logout and login again to Tidal without the restart in between) do not fix the problem.
Considering the various threads that appear on the board related to similar issue I suspect the problem lies either in some bug that corrupts cached informations or some timeout issue related to the Tidal authentication mechanism.
Incidentally the WiFi connection has nothing to do with it, consider that using the 5Ghz band at limited distance and with limited number of devices and neighbour interference, there is more than enough bandwidht to support HiRes audio streaming (the same setup can easily support FullHD Video streaming with DTS audio and reasonably also 4K video streaming).
