Describe the issue

Roon Playlist Improver Quality Upgrade creates duplicates on Tidal playlist.

When running Upgrade Quality operation on a Tidal playlist, the operation finishes, but after a few seconds the Tidal playlist gets larger by the number of improved tracks.

The Upgrade Quality operation is then again available for the same tracks.

The final Tidal playlist gets duplicates as a result of upgrade quality operation.

Describe your network setup

Roon ROCK on NUC, Ubiquity U6-Lite, Mikrotik RB5009

Hi @Jozo_Slejko,
Thanks for reaching out to us about this. Can you provide us with some screenshots showing the duplication and if possible a link to the playlist where this happened?

Hi @daniel, here’s the playlist.

Basically when clicked upgrade quality, after a few seconds, the playlist gets bigger for these same tracks. I’ll paste a few screenshots later.

Hi @daniel, here’s a couple of screenshots.

Before the operation:

After the operation:

Then after removing the new duplicates:

Actually, there’s something wrong with the sync. I’m trying to manually remove a track from this playlist and it comes back after a couple of seconds.

When trying removal of multiple tracks together, they come back.

I copied the playlist into a new one and same behaviour.

Scratch that, in the copied playlist, the track comes back and then gets removed for good.

So it seems it’s a lag in the UI. I’m going to reboot ROCK box.

The original playlist is still not updated properly.

ROCK reboot didn’t change anything.
Original playlist has the issue, copied playlist shows lag but does remove tracks.

So, the copied playlist does remove duplicates and does improve quality. The only thing is that the UI lags a bit.

I’m going to use the copied playlist.

Hello @Jozo_Slejko ,

Thank you for the additional information. This behavior seems strange, I have activated diagnostics mode for your account and I’ll bring up this behavior with the team. We’ll leave your thread open until we receive further feedback from the team regarding this, thanks!

Thanks @noris
Yeah, it seems the original playlist has issues with sync.
Even though, playlist manipulation in the new playlist is a bit laggish in the UI.

I came here because I have the same issue as the OP and I found this thread. When I run the improvement for better quality on Tidal playlists, it adds the duplicates, so then I run the remover to improve them, and then it says there are improvements, and so I run the quality improver and rinse and repeat in an endless loop.

Thanks for the details @Jozo_Slejko / @Trevor_Jackson , the team is looking into this.

Hello @Jozo_Slejko /@Trevor_Jackson ,

After discussing this case with the team, we have opted to enable some additional diagnostics for your accounts to see if we can get to the bottom of this behavior. Can I please ask that you reboot your Roon Server apps twice so that the additional debug mode is picked up? Then after the reboots, please reproduce the issue again and share a screenshot of before/after the action, just as this post:

Thanks!

Hi @noris ,

server rebooted twice.

Before the operation:

Operation says completed:

Improve again says Upgrade quality:

So in this last test, the Upgrade quality operation doesn’t change or add anything to the list. The Improve button always shows the same Upgrade quality option. This is a new behaviour in my case.
