The slow loading problem in TIDAL hasn’t completely gone away, but it is less common. What is problematic right now is the regular breakdown of the connection. This problem was present in version 1.7, but has become more pronounced since the installation of version 1.8.
I uninstalled the firewall on my QNAP NAS but the problem still persists.
What do you think is the source of this connection problem?
I succeeded to set the QVPN on my QNAP NAS and on my IPad.
There is an improvement.
However, I still get some interference when I navigate the Data Base while I listen to an album.
I make a good use of the Tags to document the albums that I have in the Tidal Library or my own.
I wonder if that could be a source of the slow down of the loading process or the connexion?
If so, would you know how I could solve this issue?
Best regards,
Gaëtan
P.S. I discover - by chance - the new function about the headphones and speakers. I own AUDEZE LCD-X headphones and the activation of this function improve my listening experience. May I suggest that ROON promote these functions more explicitly?
I thought that one of the source of the problem could be the available RAM to process the operating of Roon - it is 4 GB of RAM and it is used at 2,73%.
Since my QNAP NAS Is also used for other functions (Video - Photos - files) I need to manage the applications accordingly - meaning to stop them - while I am not using them.
On the ROON web site, it is recommenced that 4 GB of RAM be available - but do you think that in my case, 8 GM of RAM would be necessary to operate ROON app more smoothly?
If you already have a computer with i3 CPU or better, SSD drive and no less than 16GB RAM, use it.
If you need to purchase new hardware, get a NUC10 or NUC8 (but not NUC11), i7 or i5, no less than 8GB RAM if you run ROCK, or no less than 16GB RAM if you run Windows, use a Samsung 970 m.2 SSD for boot drive, and a compatible fanless chassis.
If you confirm that the VPN really solves your Tidal issue, you’ll probably need to use Windows instead of ROCK.
I need to provide some details about the hardware :
I am not sure that my QNAP NAS is lacking hardware capacity. The RAM is of 4 GB but the Roon Core and it Data Base are installed on a SSD Drive. I send to you screen picture to see my set up.
Since my last mail, I did connexion tests. I connected my computer Mad Book Pro with Ethernet cable and I did upload album from Tidal and add tags while I was listening an album. my listening last more than one hour without any rupture of connexion.
I wil try again wireless and see. I will let you know how it is working.
In fact, the Roon Core that I use is on the QNAP NAS.
What I have observe is when I connect my Mac to the network and use my IPd wireless to listen to Tidal and up-load albums and give tags - everything works fine.
