Track history shows unplayed tracks (ref#8KN13A)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

Did you recently play Live Radio?

Hi @Marc_Lens, welcome back to the community.

Track history entries like this are often tied to radio or background playback, rather than only tracks you manually started. As @Suedkiez has mentioned above, did you happen to listen to Live Radio, a station, or any autoplay session around the time these entries appeared?

If so, we’d like to check whether the history is reflecting that playback correctly or if something else is being recorded. If you can, send us a couple of examples from the history list, along with the approximate time they appeared.

We can take a closer look from there. :folded_hands:

Hi @benjamin ,

thanks for your message. I just realized that the track history contains all tracks from the internetradio that always plays during the day. As I never searched those songs, I thought that the history was incorrect.

Has this always been the case? Can this feature be switched off or can the history be cleared? As the history now contains thousands of songs, probably slowing down the app.

Just select the queue and you will see a button at the top of your screen - ‘clear upcoming’ click on that and you will then get ‘clear all’ - that will remove your entire queue.

That’s for the Queue, but not the History. (By the way, the queue length is limited to 5,000 tracks or so, so old tracks are automatically dropped from the queue, anyway).

Clearing the History in the side pane, however, would delete all of Roon’s listening statistics from Home. Therefore, the History isn’t meant to be cleared, normally. I have many thousands of entries (everything I have ever played in Roon) in the History and this is not slowing anything down. It always stored every play from albums, playlist, or Roon Radio.

However, what seems to be new is that it also stores every track from Live Radio (at least the tracks for which Roon has Live Radio metadata).

And personally I agree that there should be a switch for whether it should do this. In my opinion, Live Radio (just like good old AM/FM radio) may run as a complete background soundtrack with nobody really paying attention or without necessarily caring for the music. IMO it’s really questionable to treat every track from Live Radio as something I actually listened to (usually I don’t listen).

Fully agree; I don’t see any added value to add tracks from live radio into the history-folder. I had 11.800 tracks in the history… (and radio is playing all day long here but just like you said there’s no point in saving all those tracks in the history)

Ah - sorry - never use the history … thanks!

Roon are aware, it’s a regression and they will correct, see …

Hey @Marc_Lens and @Suedkiez,

@Carl is quite correct with the above! Our team already has a fix in for this regression and it should be added to an upcoming update soon.

Manually clearing the unwanted tracks via history is the best, albeit tedious workaround for now. :folded_hands:
