Setup: - Roon Server (Core) on Mac, wired Ethernet -
Endpoint: Devialet Mania via AirPlay (Mania is not Roon Ready) -
Other Roon zones play fine; only the Mania fails Symptom: -
Selecting the Mania and pressing play flips to pause and the EQ icon animates, but the track position stays at 0:00 and no sound is produced.
Already tried (no change): - Confirmed Mania’s AirPlay works — plays fine via AirPlay from iPhone/iPad - Rebooted/factory-reset the Mania - Disabled + re-enabled the zone in Settings > Audio (only one Mania entry) - macOS firewall turned off; also tested with stealth mode off - Tried Core on Ethernet and on Wi-Fi (same subnet as the iPhone that works) - Confirmed only ONE active network interface on the Mac (Wi-Fi off, Ethernet only) - Full Roon Server restart incl. force-quitting RAATServer; router reboot - Seeking into the middle of the track does not start playback
Please advise / pull logs — looks like it may be the current AirPlay playback issue.
I think the next step here is to enable some diagnostics on your account so our technical staff can get some more insight into what’s going on here.
However, before I enable this feature, I’d like to ask for your help ensuring we gather the right information.
First, can you please reproduce the issue once more and note the time at which the error occurs. Then respond here with that time, and I’ll make sure we review the diagnostics related to that timestamp.
Roon is talking to your Mania using the older version of the AirPlay protocol, and the Mania is refusing the connection because of it. Every time you press play, Roon reaches the device successfully, asks to open a playback session, and the Mania rejects it. We counted 32 attempts across 1 and 5 August and every one was refused, which is why the transport shows as playing while the timer never moves and no sound comes out.
The Mania supports the newer version of AirPlay, and Roon uses that by default. There is one setting that overrides this and forces the older version, and on your zone it appears to be switched on.
Please go to Settings, then Audio, click the gear icon next to the Mania zone to open Device Setup, and check whether AirPlay Compatibility Mode is enabled. If it is, please turn it off, then try playback again.
If it was already off, please send us a screenshot of that Device Setup screen so we can see the current state.
We have this behaviour under investigation with our development team for other devices already, so if turning the setting off does not resolve it, your case goes straight to them rather than back into general troubleshooting.
