Describe the issue
I'm trying to set up my Roon ARC with my laptop PC as a Roon core server. I'm having trouble finding UPnP in my server settings so I can set up port forwarding.
Describe your network setup
My ISP is AT&T. My router model number is BGW320-500. My Roon core is my laptop PC, the model number of which is ASUSLaptop_Q540VJ. My router and PC are connected through WiFi. I've installed ARC on my iPhone.
The AT&T BGW320-500 does support UPnP, but it is not labeled obviously in the interface. Here is where to find it:
Open your browser and go to http://192.168.1.254
Click on Home Network → IP Passthrough — if you want the cleanest ARC setup, you can enable IP Passthrough to your laptop, though this requires a static IP on the PC
Alternatively, go to Firewall → NAT/Gaming and manually add a port forwarding rule for the port shown in Roon ARC settings (usually 55002) pointed at your laptop’s local IP address
Note that on the BGW320-500, UPnP is often disabled by AT&T by default and cannot be enabled by the user — it is locked in the firmware. Manual port forwarding via NAT/Gaming is therefore the recommended approach for ARC on this router.
One more thing: since your Roon Core is running on a laptop connected via WiFi, make sure the laptop has a reserved/static local IP in the router settings so the port forwarding rule always points to the correct address.
AT&T hasn’t commonly implemented CG-NAT so we can likely resolve this with the port forwarding settings changes suggested above.
Specifically, you’ll need to try to create a manual port forwarding rule in the AT&T router settings admin page. This is usually under the NAT/Gaming tab under Services.
This rule should be TCP protocol. Both the internal/external port numbers should match the port assigned in Roon Settings → ARC, and the IP address should also match.
