TV cast icon not showing on volume menu

Hi. I used to see the TV cast icon under the volume menu. It no longer shows up there.

The only way I can cast to my TV is to use the TV Connect app, or to paste the web display URL on the web.

Do you know how to get the cast icon to show again? It’s much easier to select the icon directly through my Roon app.

Hi @Tim_Keough,
Thanks for writing in to let us know about this issue. Have you set your tv up as a display in your Roon settings? If you have you can connect the display like this:
Click the speaker icon in Roon

Then click the display button

The available displays will show up and you can click “Display Now” on the one you want to use.

Hi Daniel. Thanks for the reply. That is the issue. I no longer see the TV icon. It had shown up before.

When I go back into Settings>displays, it shows “no available displays”. How would I get TV/Apple TV to show in DISPLAYS?

Apple TV always worked like this:

Apple TV

To use your Apple TV as a Roon Display, first open Safari on one of your iOS devices and begin using it as a Display. Now use AirPlay to on your Safari app to display this on your Apple TV.

For how to begin using Safari in this way, see:

Your TV might offer better options, see the link for what’s possible. (E.g., Chromecast)

@Tim_Keough,
Did @Suedkiez’s suggestion work for you?

Hi. Unfortunately, that doesn’t work for me. I’m trying to avoid all the steps of having to manually cast. I always had the cast TV icon showing up under my volume settings in Roon. It’s easier for me to simply click on that while I’m already listening via Roon. I don’t understand why this icon all of a sudden stop showing up?

Oh I see. I will discuss this with the rest of the team. In the meantime, a thread from a while back discusses some potential workarounds you can try. Apple TV and Airplay - no Roon display, but - #13 by AMT
