A very impressive looking piece of kit with specification & functionality which will take a little time to read & digest. :+1:

I’m purchasing one as soon as I am back from Munich

what’s the price of this thing (not seeing it on Lumin site)

Lumin said it will be close to $10,000.

For those who did not attend the show. It sounded great. I’m impressed by the T3X.

I tried to find @wklie but was told he was not there. He is a big reason I’m willing to invest in Lumin hardware and I wanted to say thank you.

Hello Peter @wklie! If you connect an external clock to the U2X, can you simultaneously distribute from the U2X clock outputs to two other devices (DAC, Switch…)?

My reading of the Lumin announcement suggests that two devices could be connected to the U2X in order to synchronize all devices to a master clock.

:face_with_spiral_eyes:

Yes, this is what I was told at the show.

I have my fingers crossed for them to make a stand alone DAC :crossed_fingers:t2:

Yes, output 10MHz to two devices, from either an external 10MHz clock, or the U2X internal OCXO.

I looked at their website and they were vague about whether this device could actually serve as a Roon core. I’d really like to move my core off my PC, and there are some impressive streamers out there, but I’ve yet to find one with a significant processor ( i5 or better) and 8tb SSD storage on the motherboard. So far the ASUS NUC 15 pro+ looks like my best option.

U2X is not a roon core.

I recommend using Roon rock on a NUC.

None of the Lumin devices serve as a Roon Server (Core).

Ok today is new transport day my new lumin U2x arrived, wanted to ask which clock option shall I used to have best result femto or this 10m one? Also will accessory remote from lumin will work with U2x ? Regarding SFp is there any recommended one ? And last one will there be a significant difference between lumin app vs Roon, I’m using tidal as streaming platform.

After the device is powered on for at least several hours, you may try each of this option for playing a 44.1kHz music and see if you have a preference.

The IR remote control will work.

Here’s the official page:

In this forum, you may search for “Lumin SFP” and see others’ feedbacks.

There’s also Tidal Connect via Tidal app.

Thank you for answer Peter, can you please tell me what’s the basic difference between this clocks?

10MHz clock is added for those DAC that takes it (e.g. Esoteric).

Especially for those DAC that does not accept a 10MHz clock input, please try both internal clocks to see which sounds better.

What happens if you send a master clock signal to the U2X 10M input? Is this also reflected on the output? Or does the 10 MHz output clock only output the internally generated clock signal? Assuming you have a 10 MHz external clock generator and a DAC that accepts the same clock, what would be the correct configuration? And what configuration should be used on the U2X?

Thanks in advance,
Giuseppe
