Describe the issue
My UB DAC disconnects during pLAYBACK when sample rate switches
Thanks for taking the time to write in and share your report! Here are a few next troubleshooting steps for you to try:
Check USB Connection Stability
Try a different USB cable (preferably short, shielded, and high-quality).
→ USB handshake drops can occur at rate switches if there’s minor instability.
Try a different USB port on your RoonServer.
→ Prefer a rear I/O port directly on the motherboard (avoid front-panel or hub-connected ports).
Avoid USB hubs or adapters (especially powered hubs).
Max Sample Rate (PCM): set to a fixed value (e.g., 192kHz)
Max Bits per Sample: set to 24
Then play only content matching that sample rate for a while.
→ If playback is stable, the issue is almost certainly tied to how your DAC/USB stack handles rate switching.
Another side test - try toggling between Exclusive Mode on/off in Roon.
This is the same DAC I’ve had since I bought a lifetime Roon License in 2020 this only started after I upgraded to Mac OS Tahoe. My DAC switches sample rates just fine in Jriver Media center. It seems pretty clear this is an indues with Roon to me not my hardware. Also why is your fix for my sample rate switching issue involve setting a fixed value? I would not be using a $700 program if I wanted to not have bit perfect playback! I’ve also switched usb cables while trying to figure this out myself. I’m using a M4 Mac Mini. Again if one program has no issue and yours does It seems to me the problem is with the software. Weirdly enough the last time I opened an issue on here the form at least let me fill out what OS I’m using and which version Is there a reason that’s not on the service Form anymore? Also my DAC is plugged directly into the machine the server is installed on there is no network involved in my playback.
Hi Alex – I have not yet installed the EA, after reading that @Ruud_Brocheler posted that the EA fixed the issue – except for when a sample rate switches to 192KHz. Has Roon tested that use-case with the EA release?
EA also fixed the changing sample rate issue and icon for me! However, installing the new version and deleting the old one has resulted in two Roon toggles in my Local Network settings that are somehow linked, so when you toggle one, they both move! Any way to get rid of the second one?
