Describe the issue

I can´t access my smb 1.0 share on the roon nucleus since my Windows 11 PC only supports smb 2. Is there a way to update the smb on my nucleus, or how can I access my share again?

Describe your network setup

nucleos directly wired to the AVM FritzBox Router

RoonOS (the operating system used in the Nucleus) does support SMBv2. Perhaps the issue is being caused by changes made by Microsoft to make secure access mandatory. See

Hi @Rainer_Kummert,

@Geoff_Coupe is correct - the SMB version isn’t a problem, but tighter Windows guest access restrictions in recent updates are a more likely culprit. You’ll need to edit your Group policies in Windows to allow for guest network access.

These instructions are from Microsoft, not Roon, and they will have an effect on your network security settings. Please read carefully before proceeding in the articles I’ve shared above.

  1. Select Start, type gpedit.msc, and select Edit group policy.
  2. In the left pane under Local Computer Policy, navigate to Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Network\Lanman Workstation.
  3. Open Enable insecure guest logons, select Enabled, then select OK.
