I am trying to Chromecast the visual content on Roon to my TV. The person I hired to install my new AVR, TV and Roon told me that I would need to buy a Chromecast dongle, AppleTV or iPad to do this. I tried a Chromecast dongle and now an iPad with no luck.
@MaryBeth_Heydt, in addition to @Suedkiez’s recommendation, you also have the option, if your TV supports a compatible web browser, to display Roon via the TV’s web browser using this approach under “Web Display”:
Which, to avoid misunderstandings, only provides a display of what’s currently playing with images, album and artist. Maybe that’s what‘s desired, anyway.
Correct, I should have noted that my recommendation does not necessarily play the Roon stream through the TV, it just displays what is being played currently, as @Suedkiez explained.
It doesn’t see any of the other devices to add them in Settings. My phone doesn’t see the Nucleus either, although when I turn on my Eversolo, I can run Roon with it.
I think we need some more information. In particular, please clearly distinguish your various goals. Currently it’s audio, video, and control issues all jumbled together and difficult to understand what you are trying to do with each device.
Screenshots of what you see in each case would also help
Trying to get the Nucleus One to find and connect to the Wiim Ultra on my home network;
Trying to get the Roon to find and recognize my LG C3 OLED SmartTV so I can see the album art and lyrics on lyrics enabled tracks on my TV while I am listening to music on my Eversolo A8 streaming DAC.
Since the Nucleus doesn’t recognize these devices, there’s nothing to take screenshots of. Neither the TV nor the WiiM Ultra show up in settings for audio or display.
The person I hired to set up my Roon was unable to get the Chromecast to work. He told me the only way it would work with the Roon was to buy a Chromecast dongle, an IPad or an Apple TV device. I have tried the 1st two with no success.
OK thanks. We’ll get to each of these points in time. For now, it seems that each issue individually can (and often is) related to network configuration issues. So that’s where I’d start first. Can you tell us how the network is set up and how everything is connected?
Hi @MaryBeth_Heydt,
Thanks for reaching out to us about this issue. In addition to what @Suedkiez asked about your network I’d like to start troubleshooting by checking if your Nucleus is having a hardware issue. Can you connect a monitor to your Nucleus via HDMI and let us know what you see on the screen?
I just tried to connect an HDMI cable from the Roon Nucleus to my notebook and nothing shows up. My Roon app on my phone is also telling me it can;t find my Roon. I am able to log into Roon on my laptop and share my screen on my TV and see the lyrics, etc. that way and play music on my Eversolo A8.
