I am struggling to connect my backup and watched folders to my new Nucleus One. I have set up sharing and used Get Info to ensure the correct file name is selected. i have even tried my mac ip address.
Describe your network setup
i use a Netgear Orbi Mesh wifi that the Nucleus One is directly connected to. I previously ran my mac as the core and trying to instal the last back up to the Nucleus One as the core
Thanks for reaching out to ask about this issue. Could you please share a screenshot of your backup settings in Roon? Also, are you seeing any error messages related to your backups?
Once we have that information, we’ll be better equipped to help troubleshoot.
Thanks for sharing those screenshots. They were very helpful.
It looks like the path you are using is in the wrong format and lacks the hostname or IP address. Check the example shown below
You can use the below steps to find your Mac’s host name:
Press the command key and the space bar at the same time to bring up Spotlight search
Type Terminal and press Enter to open a terminal window. It will look something like this
In that window type scutil --get LocalHostName and press enter. Your Mac’s host name will show up. It’ll likely be something like MacBook-Pro. I’ll use that as an example to show you what the path should look like below.
So the path you want to use will look like this: smb://MacBook-Pro/Users/richardalston/Downloads. That said, we generally don’t recommend using your Downloads folder for music storage. Roon will scan everything in the folder, not just music files, which can lead to importing music taking much longer. Using a dedicated Music folder will provide a cleaner and more efficient setup.
I hope this helps clarify things! If you have any questions or run into any trouble, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help!
Hi, i have tried following the approach suggested and used various methods to get file path but none are working. Using the terminal approach i get the following MacBook-Pro
richardalston@MacBook-Pro Using get info /Users/richardalston
Sorry to hear you’re still running into trouble with your network shares. To help us cover all the bases, could you please share a screenshot of the path you’re using in Roon, along with any error messages that appear?
It would also be helpful to see the share settings on your Mac, just to make sure everything is configured correctly. You can find this by going into your Mac settings under System Settings → General → Sharing, then clicking the “i” icon next to File Sharing.
Once we have that info, we’ll be in a better position to assist you further. Thanks again for your continued patience!
We haven’t seen a response to this thread since the post above. Diagnostics, however, appear to indicate that a network share is associated with your RoonServer and that local music has imported.
Are you still having issues setting a Backup and Watched Folder location? We’re here to assist if necessary. Otherwise, please see the post above as the most common solution for assigning a MacOS network share.
Keep in mind this thread will automatically close without a response. Thanks!
