Unable to Connect New Mac-Mini to Roon Due to Active Session Error (ref#0K5GS5)

What’s happening?

· Roon won’t start, update, or finish installing

Describe the issue

I recently wrongly erased my Mac-mini on which Roon was installed. I am now locked out of the device and cannot get to Roon. I purchased a new Mac-mini and downloaded Roon. However, I cannot connect the new Mac to Roon server because it tells me I already have a session running and cannot have two simultaneous sessions. Since this is a brand new Mac with Roon being installed on it for the first time, I do not understand. I do not know how to terminate the session I am supposedly already running. The original Mac-mini is off and all content deleted.

Describe your network setup

Main device is a Mac-mini used solely for Roon. Remote device is iPhone 17. Router is supplied by NBN which is the national internet provider. Home network is Netgear Orbi RBR850 (which has worked seamlessly with Roon in the past)

I found a way to deauthorise the old Mac. Didn’t realise this was needed as the device was not functioning. Anyway, problem solved (except I’ve lost all my playlists.

Restore your most current Roon database backup from wherever you put it to your new computer.

Roon keeps track of where your license is logged in on their servers. The fact that your old computer is dead makes no difference. With only one Roon subscription you have to tell Roon to unauthorize your old Roon server and authorize your new Roon server. That moves your license from your old computer to your new computer.

Thanks Jim.
Fortunately I did have a Roon backup and was able to restore my playlists.
