Unable to Connect Roon to Dropbox for Backup Restoration (ref#0IMU63)

I change my Roon playert and server. But I am unable to connect Roon to Dropbox to restore the backup of music library. Roon wants an Authentication Code, but I have no idea how to generate such a code. I cannot find any reference to this in Dropbox either. I try two different browser as primary browser on the mac, safari and chrome.

I would never use Dropbox for Roon database backups, much less music files. I assume you know the Roon backup routine does not back up your music files. You have to use some other method to back up your music.

Using Dropbox as a backup destination is absolutely fine. However, one should never perform database recovery direct from the cloud: always syncronise the backups to a local machine first.

@Michel_Valois, Dropbox uses OAuth, which sets a token on the machine using the default browser. Therefore, make sure you are using the default browser, especially on iOS, and turn off VPN and strict ad (cookie) blocking.

If this continues, please post an image of the message, and provide details of your Roon Server and Remote.

I use DropBox as a backup for the backup. The Roon DB sits on its own RAID1 volume on a Synology extension rack and backs up to a RAID10 array on the main rackstation.

The Dropbox is just a belt and braces - if I ever had to use it, I’d sync up a local copy as @Martin_Webster said and restore from there.

I did a restore from backup last week due to a failing SSD and all went well without a hitch.

I would never use it for Roon backups because it is too slow. Attach a USB drive.

Checking in before this thread auto-closes for inactivity. Are you still encountering issues with OAuth and Dropbox? Try logging into Dropbox directly via a browser on the same machine before attempting to connect Roon to Dropbox once more.
