Unable to Connect Roon to Vault2 Using Network Path (ref#EMP13M)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· Can’t reach my Server, remotes or ARC

Can’t connect to my Server, remotes or ARC

· Other ARC issues

Tell us what's going on

· I need assistance linking Roon to my Vault2. For the pathway, I have entered the one I used with my former computer, as follows: \\VAULT2-2CB9\SHARED\MUSIC, but the Roon form dismisses that as incorrect. GPT suggested I use the IP address of my router, but that didn't work either. This is beyond frustrating.

Tell us about your home network

· Orbi93, hardwired to my Vault2. My computer, where Roon is now housed, is also hardwired, so it's all one system.

@Paul_Smith1,

Thanks.

Hi @Paul_Smith1,

To be precise, Windows 11 has disabled guest fallback for third-party network storage shareas by default.

This can cause generic errors when attempting to point Roon to a network share. Please try following the steps in the article above. Here’s a more complete version of the same process from Microsoft:

Let us know if this helps. Thank you!

Hi @Paul_Smith1,

Just for due diligence, can you confirm that you’ve tried the steps @alex_h suggested to enable guest network access permissions on Windows 11? That particular operating system will, by default, prevent Roon from accessing a third-party network storage location.

Here are the instructions you’ll need to try. This is a more complete version of what Alex sent above:

If you’ve already tried this step and still see this Vault location greyed out in Roon, then please forgive the redundancy and let us know.
