Description Of Issue
For the last couple days (perhaps longer) I have been unable to connect to either of the Chromecast devices I have on my network. I have both a Chromecast Audio and a Chromecast Ultra, both of which have been working fine. I have tested them and I can cast other music services to them (outside Roon) as well as video to the Ultra. When I try to connect to them via Roon I get an error that says, “Device refused to switch input to Roon.”
I tried everything I could think of and even removed the devices from Roon and tried to add them back. While Roon seems to see them it will no longer connect to either.
I have reset all my devices, validated that software is up to date on everything and even reset the modem and router.
I have also noted today that my Sonos will no longer connect to Roon either. Seems to be having the same issue as my Chromecast devices. It is worth to note however that my Bluesound Node 2 is connecting and playing fine The bluesound is the only device aside from the Sonos that is riding on my wifi network as opposed to being hardwired. I have a Mytek Brooklyn DAC which is connected directly to the core that is working perfectly fine as well. I’m wondering if there wasn’t something in this recent update that caused this issue for me? I look forward to your assistance.
Update. Spent considerable time with the system today and finally got it to work. It would appear as though somehow my wifi may have been interfering with the connection. I have the mac mini hard wired as are the chromecast devices. I noticed that the mac mini was on my guest wifi network for some reason. i completely shut down the wifi on the mac mini and restarted everything. Now with it being only on lan, it seems to connect to other other devices fine.
