First time in about 5 years I cannot connect to the Roon server, it just spins trying. I have a nucleus, WIFI's good and have reset all the products in the chain. Nucleus has the latest updates and says ready when trying to connect but no luck. Have never experienced this issue.
Thank you for your report. Our diagnostic servers can see the Nucleus is online and responding to our requests for diagnostic log reports, which is a good sign. Those log reports show no hardware-level errors, but the unit isn’t receiving an IP address on the same subnetwork as the rest of your devices. There’s additionally a second RoonServer instance set up on a local PC to which many of the remotes in this environment are attempting to connect.
Did you set up this second server inadvertently, or as a workaround in the meantime while the Nucleus is having issues?
Please share a screenshot of the web administration page for this Nucleus - this should display some network information that we can use to further pinpoint any possible issue with DHCP and address assignment on this network.
Do you also have a recent, reliable Backup of the Roon database hosted on your Nucleus? We might need this in case we want to reset the database and restore.
A few weeks back I was having a difficult time logging into Roon on my iPad due to this issue we are currently trying to resolve, was trying a bunch of things and kept getting an error on the iPad.
So, I created this other instance on my PC and was able to log in, but have really not used it for anything. I do not have anything backed up as far as I know, never did it purposely.
Thanks for the screenshot, that looks as expected. Is it just the iPad that is having issues with connecting? I noticed that in your screenshot, the Nucleus has been running for 16 days. Can you please try to click the red power button and perform a restart/reboot of the Nucleus, and let us know if this helps re-establish the connectivity?
Thanks, I only use the iPad to connect and have removed the instance on my PC. I tried cycling the power on the Nucleus as suggested and it appears to have found the server but cannot connect to my audio device, have cycled power there as well with no luck. Can search but doesn’t find anything, won’t play Tidal or Qubuz I assume because its not connected to a device. Any other suggestions?
Thanks for your patience as we have been looking into this issue further. Looking over your newest diagnostics package, I was able to locate instances of corruption in your database.
Errors like the one you’ve seen now are signs of low level corruption in the database. This means that the records Roon is reading from your database are different from what was originally written. This can happen for a number of reasons, like failing hard drives or an unstable power source (frequent outages, hard power cuts, etc).
We’re sorry you’re experiencing this extremely rare error: not only is our database infrastructure designed specifically to prevent this type of corruption, but starting with Build 880, Roon detects database corruption “on the fly”. So if corruption is detected during a backup or during normal use of Roon, you’ll be immediately prompted to restore from a backup.
What’s Next?
Install Roon fresh on your Roon Server machine and roll back to one of your older backups. You can use these instructions to do so:
Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old”
Restart the RoonServer in the WebUI to generate a new Database
On the Roon Remotes, press “Use another Roon Server” and connect to the new database
(Optional) - Restore your database from a Backup prior to the issue starting
If the database loads properly, your edits, playlists, tags, etc should be intact, and we can confirm everything is performing properly once it’s been restored.
If you do not have any backups, unfortunately the only other solution is to start with a fresh database.
Appreciate the input. Been a bit of a struggle to get through the instructions but believe I have with the exception of the last step… * On the Roon Remotes, press “Use another Roon Server” and connect to the new database. I’m not seeing the option to press “Use another roon server”???
What options do you see in this case? Feel free to share a screenshot! If you’re able to select your Nucleus and connect, go ahead and follow through with this.
