Unable to connect to Roon Server on Nucleus in Azores (ref#P3XESK)

I had to unauthorise Roon and use the Pc as the server.

Im not an expert technician and I’m feeling disgusted how Roon works.
If I cannot use Nucleus and only have access to PCs (in the Azores or in Coimbra, Portugal) i will have to quit Roon, with regrets…

Please give more detailed information on the steps to follow, but not too technical.

I managed to rename the Roon Server Folder. However, when I connect either from the PC or the smartphone remote, I cannot proceed, when selecting “Use another Roon Server”
Old story repeats.

I had to rename the folder back. However I quit Roon Remote while renaming the folder. You wrote"Restart the RoonServer in the WebUI to generate a new Database". Do you Mean Roon Server Software (that’s what i did)
The option to reset Roon Database and seetings wasn’t used this time, I did it with the Nucleus before.
There appeared 2 shortcuts on the desktop when Roon was installed: Roon and Roon Server. The last doesn’t start.
I recall having to unauthorise Nucleus (why?) so that I could run Roon, so the PC is the server now. (But I want Nucleus up and running)
I now have done a new bakup on a new folder on the PC.
I remember having restored a database some days ago I had backed up in the other PC in the other house, so that here I could get the same Data using Nucleus. (History and more). Restoring the old database from a saved folder won’t work?

Now what can I do?
I am expecting a new type of support, for non-technicians. I used to tackle more of that earlier, but getting older didn’t help.
I expect Roon to be working as before. Could you do more remotely?
How can I contact you?

I could restore a recent backup I had done in the other house on the PC there (not the one I’m using here). Now I’m glad I can access My History and the Playlists I’ve created. I hope I will have the same access when I use Nucleus here in the Azores.

I Still can’t find Nucleus. I disconnectd it, rebooted it and logged off. I tried to Use another server. (I saw this PC and Nucleus only once, but if connecting to Nucleus it showed connecting forever. Now what I can find on Settings/General as a Roon Server is only This PC.

Hi @Fernando_Machado,

Thank you for all the additional information! After reviewing a fresh diagnostic report from your Nucleus, we believe you could be experiencing a known database-related issue.

Just to confirm, if you’re able to - access the webUI of your Nucleus again. Restore your Roon Server database (only if you have a backup saved) and see if you’re able to connect normally afterward.

Here is how to access the webUI : https://help.roonlabs.com/portal/en/kb/articles/nucleus-web-administration-interface

We’ll be waiting for your response!

I don’t need a help page for pointing out how to reach the WebUI. If you read my posts, I’ve done that before many times. What I need is fresh hints fir solving the problem. I’ve also informed you that a I had restored a recent database. My problem is accessing Nucleus, since I’m using the PC as server. Why doesn’t Roon appear when I try to connect to a different server? How can I connect to Nucleus?
If you are sure that restoring the same database again will do the miracle, I’ll try it.

(I’ve tried so many different things, your suggestions helped just a little. Most of the work was “trial and error”)

PLEASE, how do I gain access to Nucleus?

I understand that I must access Nucleus before I save and replace a backup to it. Right?

Apologies for any confusion here @Fernando_Machado - you’re experiencing a known issue tied to your database, which will cause you to get stuck in the initializing phase of connection with your Nucleus.

What I was referring to above would be to perform a reset to your database, not a restore. You’d need to start out with a fresh database in order to connect (this would only be temporary, as our team is actively looking into the issue.)

So after you access the webUI, you’d select the ‘reset’ button, and upon startup, you wouldn’t restore from a backup.

I’m hopeful that by resetting your database, you’ll be able to gain access to your Nucleus. Let me know how it goes! :+1:

I repeat, I insist: I have done this before ( if you took the time to read my previous (too many?) posts!!
I have reset the database and settings once more to accomplish your insistent suggestion, I’ve reset again. The same way I reported before, what followed was the information that I’m already signed in and asks me either to get more authorizations or unauthorise Nucleus. Ive told you that I also had done the unauthorization, so that’s why I reported I was using the Huawei Matebook as a server.

I really want to use Nucleus, if it’s clear.

I’m always walking in circles, when following your hints.

PLEASE! I would like a final solution and stop getting wrong and generic tips. For once try to understand what I described, albeit my English is not perfect (I’m portuguese)
I am deprived of using Nucleus for about two weeks. Take that into consideration!

A clear evidence of what I described

And you’ve tried clicking/touching the Unauthorize button? What happens when you do this?

Of course I did!
And I expained before that, by doing so, the PC was kept as the server…

One more time it’s clear you don’t read what is described by the customer!

I will do that again and report.
How do I know it’s finally connected to Nucleus? I saw the PC as the server. Now I should see Nucleus as the server. Right?

Sorry, now I see you don’t belong to Roon staff!..

I unauthorised again.
I’ll have to check what’s connected: if the Nucleus server ir the pc as server. AND RESTORE my backup and database once again…

Going on in circles, trial and error, as always..

So if clicking Unauthorize connected you to the Roon Server on the PC, you need to disconnect the Roon client from that server (:gear:> General > Disconnect) and then you should see both servers available on your network. Choose the Nucleus this time and let us know what happens.

EUREKA!

Thank you! Thank you!

Now I can see 2 Nucleus, one of them with a serial number. This must be the real Nucleus. The other should appear as “My PC” (Attention programmers! )

I can connect to either, and the PC server shows the latest update of my backup (history, playlists, etc) I have restored. I will restore the same backup also to Nucleus (the physical one). I hope it will work!

After two weeks and dozens of misleading answers from Roon support. IT Seems impossible!

(I was getting dizzy of hovering in circles! )

I appreciate yor help!

Regards from the middle (more or less) of the Atlantic.

One question and your opinion asked: Which of the Nucleus should be used (the physical set or the PC) in relation to quality and usability?
I would bet on the real set, but…

I think I have the answer to my question: the PC turned off, and only one server is shown when trying to reconnect. So Nucleus equipment should be UP and RUNNING!

Finally, i think things are back to normal with the restoring of data.

But only , after a couple of attempts: that is why I think Roon has space to mature and improve!

And, most importantly, a better Desk of Support is needed.
More capable and helpful!
