For Roon connectivity to work properly, both Roon Server and Roon Remote need to be turned on.
· I can't turn on Roon Server, I need help.
Describe the issue
I'm running ROCK on NUC. It's been working well for many years now till no I can't connect. It was proposing to restore a backup, which I didn't do. I've rebooted the ROCK and the Roon Sever doesn't start.
Describe your network setup
I'm using Ubiquiti network equipment. The NUC is directly connected to the main switch to which my AP is also connected. The NUC is accessible by browser. There's no change in the setup.
It sounds like you’ve already powered the ROCK on and off again. Do you have a recent and reliable Backup available? The next step is to try the following:
I’m using MacOS and I can connect via SMB to the ROCK and see the Roon Server folder.
However I can’t rename it. It’s prompting to authenticate. I’ve tried connecting as Guest and Guest with Guest as password. Same result.
I’m using latest version of MacOS.
The ROCK doesn’t appear to be showing as online in our diagnostics system. Can you try to press the power button once, wait for the ROCK to turn off, unplug power cable for 2 minutes, plug back in and then try to turn it back on?
Unfortunately we’re still not seeing anything on our end. Could you please use the directions found here and send over a set of Roon Server logs to our File Uploader?
Do you have admin rights within the macOS profile you’re using?
Select the Apple menu
Select System Preferences
Select Users & Groups
Locate your user account
Check if Admin is mentioned under Current User
In addition to this, can you please navigate to macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network , and make sure Roon is allowed. If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot your Mac, and see if the same issue persists.
Based on your account information, we do see an instance of Roon on your Mac, are you intending on using your Mac as a remote device? If so, updating to the latest version would be a good next step, you can download it here:
With that, a good next step would be to review your router settings to ensure all your Roon devices are running on the same local subnet. You can learn more about that here:
Sorry, but we’re deviating from the core problem, root cause.
I don’t have an issue with my clients to connect to the ROCK because of client issues, but because of server issues. The Roon Sever Software gives status Not Running
Below you see the sequence of observations/expériences when trying to start the Roon Server Software
Thanks for the clarity here! Unfortunately, we’re still not able to review a diagnostic report from your ROCK, so we can’t see if you’re experiencing any hardware-related issues.
Can you connect the NUC via HDMI to a monitor or TV and take of pic of what’s going on there and share it here?
If you don’t see anything on screen, you may need to replace he M.2 SSD, in which we can share more information on that below:
