· The Nucleus boots up and I can connect to it in the Roon app without issue, but I have a question about configuration/storage/attached devices
Describe the issue
My Roon Nucleus died recently. I have ordered and received a Nucleus One to replace it. The Nucleus One is powered on and connected to my home ethernet network. When I launch the Roon software on my Mac, I'm asked to connect to my Roon Server and the Nucleus One is shown. When I click on the Connect button, I'm asked to Login. I'm then taken to the go.roonlabs.com website. I see my username and click to Login. I'm then taken back to the Roon app, where I'm asked if I have an internet connection, and am told to retry. If I retry, I just get stuck in a loop. I've also tried to unauthorize my Nucleus, but that doesn't seem to help. Meanwhile, the go.roonlabs.com website just says "Redirecting, please wait". I'm basically stuck in a loop that I can't get out of. I'm simply trying to replace my old Roon Nucleus with my new Roon Nucleus One. I know that the Nucleus One is working and on the network, and I know that I have a good internet connection. Please advise, thanks.
What are your results when attempting this process using a different web browser? Download a secondary browser and give this a try and or make sure any virus protection you have is not blocking roonlabs.com
I have tried this with the Firefox, Chrome, and Safari browsers, but the issue persists. I cannot get out of the loop of the screenshots you’ll see below from the Roon software on my mac and the Roon website.
Starting from the bottom of those photos, 1) when I open the Roon software on my Mac laptop, I’m prompted to connect to my new Nucleus One server. The server is “ready” (i.e., running and seen on my network), 2) When I click on “connect” on that first screen, I’m taken to a screen in the Roon software that prompts me to Login, 3) When I click on Login, I’m taken to a Roon web page that either asks me to Login (as shown in one of the photos), or welcomes me back and asks me to chose an account to log back into. I then either enter my Roon username and password or log back into my account (in the case where I’m being asked to log back in. My account name is shown). 4) When I log in online, I’m taken back into the Roon software with the “Are you online” message. I am definitely online. If I retry, I just get returned to the same exact page. So, I’m effectively stuck with no way to connect to my New Roon Nucleus One. By the way, I have a lifetime Roon subscription. I’ve tried to “unauthorize” my original nucleus device, but nothing happens, since that device is dead and disconnected.
Thanks for the thorough explanation along with screenshots. What device are you using as a remote in attempts to connect to the Nucleus? i.e. did you install Roon on a mac or a PC or are you currently trying to connect with a mobile device?
I would suggest reinstalling Roon in hope that it might resolve the issue.
You can take these extra steps below to make sure that you have a clean install in the event that uninstall ing by the standard method doesn’t work. These instructions are for macs. If you have a Windows machine please let me know and I’ll post instructions as well:
Step 1. Perform a backup and shutdown all endpoints and your server.
Step 2. Delete Roon
Step 3. Reboot
Step 4. Open the “Go menu” located in your Apple menu (Finder) select the drop-down “Go to folder” and then enter each line below in turn in the field to reach a given directory. Once there delete each parent directory that references the name “Roon”.
Example: When performing this action on my Macbook using “~/Library/Saved Application State” it reveals the hidden directory “com.roon.Roon.savedState”. In my example, you would select this directory for deletion.
~/Library/Application Support
~/Library/Saved Application State
/Library/Caches
~/Library/Caches
Step 5. Reinstall Roon
When reinstalling you should see a prompt requesting that you Allow “Roon” to find devices on local networks. Select “Allow”
Step 6. Power on your server and endpoints. Reinstall your backup
I’m still on Sonoma 14.6.1 as a macOS. That being said, thanks for your help. The simple Roon software reinstall on my Mac did not work, but the thorough deletion of all of the roon-related files on my Mac, followed by a Roon reinstall, does appear to have worked. Thanks again.
