Describe your network setup

NUC is connected directly to Denon AVR via HDMI cable

Anyway to control volume on roon ready receiver in Roon Remote from HDMI connected Nuc? - Roon Software Discussion - Roon Labs Community

I verified in the Asus NUC Pro 15 BIOS Settings that HDMI-CEC is indeed enabled there.

I checked the Windows Sound settings and there is only one option for the sound output and that is the Denon Receiver. You can see that here:

Good day @Ravenor !

I hope you’re doing well today.

We’re sorry to see you are having this problem.

After reading your other Thread we can see that you have already tried many things and made some conclusions.

So you can either use HEOS app as you have mentioned and it would be the best way or set the volume control to DSP Volume which will adjust the volume level by adjusting the signal itself.

Let us know please should you have more questions!

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the reply. Can you just verify that Roon doesn’t support or use HDMI-CEC to control AVR volume or other external HDMI connected devices? Only via Roon Ready network connectivity would it work?

One other question, would the multi-channel issue impact an Ethernet connected Roon Ready device or is this only related to WIFI?

Thanks,

Chris

Good day @Ravenor !

Roon is not capable itself of controlling HDMI speakers via CEC due to the lack of response from the Receiver or the format of data it sends back.

Regarding the RAAT - it is limited to 2 ch no matter whether it is wi fi or Ethernet.

For your scenario for best sound quality it is preferred to leave it on HDMI and control the volume either via DSP or via HEOS.

Let us know please should you have more questions.

Regards.

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the clarification on that.

I see that Roon allows for extensions to be added. Would there be a way to write an extension that could accomplish this? If so, could you point me in the right direction on how to start that and what programming languages it supports?

Thanks,

Chris
