Hi @kevacum, welcome to the community. The ffmpeg codec can be a little awkward to place on ROCK if the folder copy is being blocked, so let’s check the exact setup first.

To understand what’s going on:

 • How are you connecting to the ROCK Data folder, from Windows file sharing, macOS Finder, or something else?
 • What exactly happens when you try to copy the file, does it fail, disappear, or show an error message?
 • Have you already created the Codecs folder under the ROCK Data share, or are you trying to paste the file into a different location?
 • Can you confirm whether the ffmpeg file is already unzipped, and you are copying the actual codec file rather than the archive?
 • Have you reviewed the following article? If yes, please let us know where you stopped.
If you can share the exact error text, or a screenshot of the folder and the copy attempt, we can take it from there.

I am connecting to Rock on my NUC through the IP address using my windows pc. I can see ffmpeg file and can copy ot with windows. I open the Data file in ROCK and can see the CODEC file. I open this and see a box with:- Index of file://///rock/data/Codecs/ Up To High Level Directory Folder and Name, Size and Last Modified Columns. Windows will not paste into this. I believe the ffmpeg codec is unzipped and dont know what ypu mean by archive?

Cheers

Sounds like you opened the path with your web browser instead of your file browser. Please try and use the file browser instead.

Sorry to be a dunce but how do i see the ROCK CODECS file on my NUC in file sharer on my windows PC?

For PC enter ‘\\rock\data’ in the address bar (not the search box) and press Enter.

A quote from:

Yes, file browser should have an address bar too.

And use two backslashes.

enter ‘\\rock\data

Got all of that, van see the coddec folder and go into it, but how do i get the ffmpeg codec in there? Cheers.

Like any file you move or copy in the file explorer.

Just open another file explorer window in the folder were you have the ffmpeg file now, then drag the file with the mouse into the window with the \\rock\data\codecs folder

Thanks, but i do that, I can see copy when i move the file to the codecs folder but it doesn’t go in. Cheers
