Does the issue happen with local library music, streaming service music, or both?
· *Both streaming and local* *library* music are affected.
Do you encounter any playback errors with the "System Output" Zone?
· The System Output has *no problem*, it's only my other Zone.
How is the affected Zone connected to your RoonServer machine?
· Network - WiFi
Which network audio protocol is the Zone using with Roon?
· KEF
Does the device show up at all in Roon Settings -> Audio?
· No, it does not show up there
Does the device play audio from another source when using the same connection?
· The device has no problems with another audio source
Have you checked that Roon is whitelisted in any firewalls?
· I've checked the firewall and the issue remains
If the device has multiple output options, do the other options work as expected?
· Multiple output types are affected
Is the device using the latest firmware as per the manufacturer?
· Firmware is up-to-date but the issue remains
What are the make and model of the affected audio device(s) and the connection type?
· KEF LS50 Wireless II, Apple homePod
Describe the issue
Hello I have a Mac Studio as my ROON server
Im using Ubiquiti Dream Machine and Ubiquiti Long Range 6 Acres Points.
I only have one vlan "default"
I have 2 pairs of KEF LS50 Wireless II, and 2 Home Pods Mini.
My speakers are not connected to ROON app, they don't apear in AUDIO.
If I create a Separate VLAN named "Roon" and put my KEF in that VLAN, I Can see them in ROON as Airplay ONLY, but I can't play Audio.
I already had the IT Guys come to my home and check my internet envierment and everything fine, no firewalls, all the protocols are OK buy I can use ROON...
Describe your network setup
Unifi Dream Machine + 3 Acces Points Long Range 6 Unifi
Couple of things to check:
Is the firmware on the KEF the latest?
Are the KEF on the same subnet as the Roon Server? Look in your Dream machine and see what address is assigned to the KEF and the machine that the Roon server is on. the first three sets of numbers in the IP should be the same (i.e. 192.168.00 for instance)
Can you temporarily connect the KEF the then network via ethernet?
The wireless implementation of the KEF is sup-bar at best, I have the version 1 of these and had nothing but issues until I connected them via ethernet. The version II might be better, but I have seen others have issues with the WiFi on them, also.
The KEF are on a different subnet to the Roon Server (Mac Studio), because every time that I tried to put them on the same subnet, In my Roon Server I can’t even detect the speakers in “AUDIO”
I can temporarily connect the KEF via ethernet, i’ll try this!
Roon isn’t designed to function across subnets, even if the Airplay device announcements are correctly forwarded between access points.
Here’s what I recommend:
Verify that multicast/mDNS are enabled in the Ubiquiti network admin settings for these access points. Also enable IGMP snooping if available.
Hardwire the KEF speakers to an access point or the main router. Ideally, these will be hardwired to the same node as your RoonServer Mac, to eliminate any WiFi in the chain.
If you’re not able to connect the KEF speakers to the same router/AP as the RoonServer Mac, then verify that multicast enhancement is disabled in the Ubiquiti settings. Counter-intuitively, this setting can actually prevent multicast traffic from forwarding correctly between access points.
If you’re still unable to see the KEFs in Settings → Audio, then restart both RoonServer and the speakers.
Add the HomePods and KEF speaker Airplay profiles to the Apple Home app. This should help with Airplay.
Now I need to play music on my Airplay 2 Devices with Airplay Protocol. I want to group my KEF (airplay, and 2 of my Home Pods) But every time that I tried to play music it just doesn’t play, Ive tried one by one and grouped together and same result, No Music Playing, no error sound, it just stops 1ms after I click play.
Since you have two different streaming protocols active in this situation, you won’t be able to group them, unfortunately. Here’s more info on Zone protocols:
Looking at your airplay playback specifically, we’re seeing repeated Warn: SocketException warnings, which means the system fails to connect to the AirPlay server, specifically with the IP address 192.168.2.1:7000
Then, we see “Connection refused” errors suggesting the HomePod or the network isn’t accepting the connection. As a next step could you:
Power cycle the home pods
Check the network configuration, ensuring that the HomePod’s IP address is correct and accessible from the device sending the audio.
Yes, The KEF LS50 Wireless II are working correctly with Roon Ready Protocol.
The KEF also have AIRPLAY, and I want to use the Airplay with Roon so I can Pair with AIRPLAY the 2 pairs of KEF LS50 Wireless II and my 2 HomePods. But still im having problems playing thru Airplay (individual and as a group)
The weird thing is that the KEF’s work with Roon ready but no with Airplay.
@enriquegomezjunco, can you add the LS50 II’s to the Apple Home app, and are the HomePods also available on the Home app? This worked for me and others when trying to get AirPlay 2 to work on the more recent Roon updates, especially with some TVs and the original KEF LSX (version 1).
Refreshing your RAATServer database settings may help in this case. You can generate a new RAATServer instance on your device by following these instructions, but please be aware that this will reset your Roon Settings → Audio Tab to factory settings and I would advise making a backup of any custom DSP settings you have:
