Describe the issue

Cannot find Roon Server

I have been using Roon for about 6 months with no issues once all was set up. However, since Monday (27 April) I have been unable to run Roon as my Roon server cannot be found.

My system is simple: I have a standard BT (I am in the U.K.) router less than a year old; this is connected to my Roon Nucleus (6 months old) by an Ethernet cable. My music is served from a Melco N1ZH/2 EX (Roon ready) which is connected to the DAC in my Accuphase E4000. The Melco is connected to the same router by an Ethernet cable.

I have repeatedly shut down and restarted every part of my system. I have tried different Ethernet cables and I have deleted the Roon app and reinstalled it on my iPad which I use to control the system. I have been through every stage of the Roon troubleshooting process but the problem remains. Nothing on my system has changed so I am at a loss as to how to proceed.

All advice welcomed.

Hi @Andrew_Gunn,

Thanks for the update and for the screenshot. At this point, we’re not seeing the Nucleus in our diagnostics systems, so the next things we need to confirm are whether you can still access the Nucleus WebUI and whether there is an HDMI output coming from the unit. Please let us know what you see on those two points, and we’ll take it from there.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry but I need some guidance on how to check the two things you have mentioned. Apologies for my ignorance.

While awaiting your further guidance, I have accessed the Nucleus Web Interface by typing the IP address of my Nucleus into the web browser on my iPad. I have attached an image of the page below. You will see that it states that the Roon Server software is not running and trying to start it has failed. I tried rebooting and still get the same message that the Roon server cannot be found (see second image). I look forward to your further advice.

Not sure if you can see the second image, so I’m posting it again.

Hey @Andrew_Gunn,

Thanks for the screenshots! Roon Server failing to start is absolutely the core of your issue here.

If you haven’t yet, please perform a RoonOS reinstall from the webUI (the blue reinstall button right above where Roon Server is failing to start) and let me know if that allows you to get Roon Server up and running.

If none of the software resets work, it is worth checking the physical health of the unit.

  • Power Cycle: Turn the unit off, unplug the power cable for 30 seconds, and plug it back in.
  • LED Indicators: Check the back of the unit. The Ethernet port should have flickering lights indicating network activity.
We’ll be monitoring for your reply and results, thank you!

Problem solved by reinstalling the Operating System from the Nucleus web interface, as you suggested. See screenshot below. I shall know if it happens again.

Thanks for your help.
