· I probably just don't get something. Can I just use my PC and Use Roon as a player? The Main page says start Roon Server, or choose an other Roon server. If I click Start Roon Server, I see a roon Logo for a moment, and back to Your Roon Server doesn't seem to be running If I go select an other roon server I see "This PC" Ready When I click connect It goes back to the previous page "Your Roon Server Doesn't seam to be running". I don't really have other settings or buttons, beside Configure Roon OS devices, but nothing to do about my PC.
Thanks. I don’t think IT will let me do that, I’ll see what I can do it’s a work computer (A partner licence, not personal) I turned off windows firewall but it didn’t change anything. It’s probably Sentinel One but I don’t have the possibility to turn it off.
Do you have a Roon Server icon on your desktop or in your Start Menu? If so, see if you can manually get Roon Server to run.
Given that this is a work machine with SentinelOne, you’ve likely identified the culprit. SentinelOne is much more aggressive than a standard firewall; it doesn’t just block ports, it often kills “unauthorized” background services or prevents them from communicating locally (inter-process communication).
Since you’ve already tried disabling the Windows Firewall, here are the likely hurdles:
SentinelOne Exclusions: In a corporate environment, you usually cannot disable SentinelOne yourself. You (or an admin) would need to add an exclusion for the Roon executable path (usually Users\[YourUser]\AppData\Local\Roon).
The "Loopback" Block: Some enterprise security suites block "
http://Localhost
" communication. Since Roon "talks to itself" to function, if this is blocked, the UI will never see the Server.
Installation Path: Roon installs to the user's AppData folder rather than Program Files. Some corporate policies strictly forbid executables running from AppData to prevent malware.
Check your System Tray (near the clock). Do you see a small Roon icon there?
If no: The server is being killed by the OS/SentinelOne before it can even start.
If yes: Right-click it and ensure it says "Running." If it's running but you still can't connect, it’s a pure network/firewall blocking the "handshake."
