Under "My Albums", when I select the Focus filter "Hidden", it lists 406 Hidden albums. The setting "Show hidden tracks and albums" is set to "Yes". I have never hid an album; not sure how these got here. I've tried Edit -> Unhide, Rescan, Reidentify, Re-analyze albums, but nothing removes them from displaying as "Hidden". How do I fix this?

I don’t think that is an issue. I see 1867 albums that show up as Hidden out of 4220 total. I also have Roon set to show hidden albums. I think it might just be albums that I have in both Tidal and Qobuz that Roon would hide if I let it.
When I look at the 1867 albums, they all are valid albums that belong there, but probably albums I have in both Tidal and Qobuz.
Yep, that’s the answer, I just clicked to not show hidden albums in Roon and my library dropped from 4220 to 2353, difference is the 1867 that show as hidden in Focus. So, all is good.
EDIT: “all is good” means it’s not a bug, it’s how Roon programmed it. The 1867 hidden albums in Focus is constant whether I have Roon show them or hide them in my Roon library.
@Jim_F , thanks for suggesting an answer. However, that’s not how a filter/query works, not to mention the subscribers having to guess at the use of “Focus → Hidden”.
If I have 1 album Hidden, then I must see 1 album. Not 406.
I tired your solution (not show hidden albums), and the Hidden album Focus filter still shows 406 albums Hidden. Hopefully, Support has an answer to this bug (which should be self fixing, but that’s another subject). Cheers.
Click on one of these Albums that appears under “Hidden.”
Do you have multiple versions of the album? Is the version not displayed when Hidden is toggled on the Primary Version?
Roon hides the non-primary version of any duplicates, not just Albums you’ve manually hidden. This Focus field, Hidden, simply highlights non-primary duplicates that would otherwise be hidden if you’ve toggled off Show Hidden in Settings.
It’s not entirely clear what you mean by this. Please provide feedback respectfully in the Feedback or Roon Software Discussion.
@connor , thanks for the reply. I started with the first album, and I do not have multiple versions of it; one version on my Synology. However, it is not marked as the “Primary” album, which is strange. As common sense would dictate, I changed it to be the “Primary” version, and lo-and-behold, it was removed from the “Hidden” list. I believe you’re on to something here.
I won’t ask why a single album I own isn’t flagged as the Primary album, but I have no issue with changing all of them as time permits. Other entries will be more difficult to solve; the next album has one “duplicate” which is an entirely different rip than the Primary version. I’ll experiment along with trying to understand “Roon hides the non-primary version of any duplicates”. How are we to understand the difference between us “Hiding” an album and Roon hiding an album? A Focus filter should only represent the users metadata and/or edits, not Roons?
Thanks - as you can see on the screenshot attached, the number dropped to 405.
Have you ever had copies of those albums in Qobuz and perhaps removed them later. I’ve had a similar issue where Roon has flagged an album as being a duplicate when there only exist one version in my library. I did however at sometime prior have it as a lossy aac which I then replaced with a cd quality rip but only removed the aac at a later date. Only way I found to fix it was to completely remove it clean library and add it back in.
@CrystalGipsy , absolutely. I made my case about adding/removing album errors loooong ago, and with each update, Roon gets better and better about not having “Library → Clean up library” issues if you (I) add and then remove an entry too quickly. My guess is these entries, many of which have two versions of the same album, but are most likely to be completely different versions (different country, resolution, etc) are simply orphaned records that a process should be looking for and fixing (my comment “self fixing”). How they got that way is unknown, but finding the issue that a lone entry not flagged as “Primary version” clearly shows the query includes this bit.
If it were me, I’d make sure these were cleaned up; telling the users there’s an issue that Roon created isn’t the correct answer.
Thanks for your comment; I’ll work on resolving these one-by-one (I’d rather have access to the databse ). Cheers.
@connor , on the next entry, “Remove from group” removed another entry from the list of Hidden albums (I didn’t “group” these). Who came up with this needs a good whammy upside the head. If “General → Show hidden tracks and albums” isn’t going to ignore the “Group” entry, then Roon needs to revisit the logic here.
Thanks again for your response.
There is no right or wrong and I didn’t say there is. It’s how Roon programmed it. People would probably differ on how they want it to work. You can enter a feature request to change it.
@connor , thanks for the tips. Fixed now; no more “Hidden” albums once they are all marked “Primary”, or the “Remove From Group” was deleted. Not fun, but good to go. Have a terrific Holiday.
