Uneven Channel Balance with Audeze Maxwell Headphones in Exclusive Mode

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing an issue with my Audeze Maxwell headphones when using them with Roon in exclusive mode. Whenever I adjust the volume in Roon, the balance between the channels becomes uneven, with one channel being louder than the other. This problem does not occur when I listen to music through Tidal in exclusive mode; the balance remains normal in that case.

Has anyone else encountered this issue? Are there any settings or configurations I should check or adjust to fix this problem? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Stanislav_Tolmachov, can you upload an image of the Roon Signal path when you are experiencing this issue.

Thanks for the screenshots, it does look odd … I think we should get Roon’s @support team to take a look so I’m moving this topic over to Support.

This solution works if you send the signal through a OSmixer, but if it goes directly, it doesn’t.

Your shared screenshots show that Roon isn’t doing any DSP processing on the audio signal and that in fact the balance on your Apple machine changes. This seems to be a somewhat common issue with Apple products. Maybe you should consult Apple specific support resources in pursue for a solution to the problem.

Hi @Stanislav_Tolmachov, nothing that @BlackJack has not already shared.

Roon’s support team will be along when your ticket reaches the top of their queue, in the meantime I’d follow BlackJack’s advise.

I opened a topic about something similar some time ago. The solution given wasn’t a real solution.
Now I am playing without Roon things improved significantly.

@daniel Don’t have, because I didn’t write to Apple. Because my headphones don’t have any problem with other players, so I know answer from Apple) And I tested Tidal with exclusive mode also - all right. So, I can’t find solution.

Okay I will raise this as a ticket with the dev team. To be clear the channel balance only occurs when playing local content through Roon in exclusive mode?

@daniel Good question) Not, most often I use connection Roon < Tidal online.

Thanks for that information! Is this happening on your NAS server or your MacOS server? I found a report of Audeze Maxwell having a similar issue on MacOS

@daniel Roon server started on NAS, on Mac i use client Roon and listening on Mac, old Mac(late 2013 Monterey).

I found before this ( a report of Audeze Maxwell) but for me interested why another player work with Maxwell normal if problem with old Mac)
