Unexpected behavior - new imports - after 2.0.25 (build 1353)

Roon Core Machine

Roon 2.0 (build 1353) on macOS 13.6.1

After experimenting with both ‘hot updates’ and the ‘longer method’ as explored in this thread, I have had three occasions when Analyzing either hangs and/or ‘Loading Album’ fails to complete after adding a new Album to my Roon watch folder.

I have fixed this myself by literally quitting Roon and restarting my Late 2017 iMac.

Several other threads unrelated to the latest version have suggested a restart.

Is this a known issue as a result of the splitting of Roon and Roon Server? Because the server software itself is only restarted at a fresh boot?

Analysis has been hanging for no reason for ages for me so not sure it’s related to this new version. It’s random when it happens and only cure is a restart of Roon server. I’ve tried to find out what triggers it but at a loss as it’s just random. Does seem to happen less if you copy in small batches, so perhaps it’s a runaway thread.

Thanks, @Simon_Arnold3; I’ve never had it before. So have to think it just might be associated with the new architecture in this last update.

Restarting my computer (something I really shouldn’t have to do) always fixes it.

I should also (have) add(ed) that - for me, in this latest ‘case’ - it only happens when I’m editing an Album which was already in the Watch Folder and bring it back in…

Which makes me think that some cache isn’t being cleared - even though I do go through the Quit and only-work-outside-Roon-while-it-is-not-running protocol.

I’ll try one of the Album Editor > Your files routines next time; any recommendations as to which of:

  • Rescan Album
  • Re-analyze album

please?

Hi @Mark_Sealey ,

Yes, a force rescan should be able to clear this up. If you find that it does not work, you can try to re-analyze too.

…and also by quitting Roon, then quitting the Roon Server from the Menu Bar
