Describe the issue

I setup a Roon NUC Rock NUC13 Pro. It seems to work fine. I am using external ssd storage. I am trying to schedule backups over my completely wired network. But when I use the network link of the shared folders on Windows 11 (through win explorer) in the Roon add Network Share, I get an "unexpected error"

Describe your network setup

cable modem, ax 3000 router, ethernet cable to switches to devices, including the NUC and any streamers. no range extenders

Hi @Jim_Fuerstenberg ,

Can you please confirm you use this guide to set up the saherd folder?

I did use that guide. and I copied and pasted the Network Path from the windows explorer Sharing dialog box into the Add Network Share box under backups. I use an external SSD on the NUC Rock for my library (and that is designated on roon as the one to watch for changes), but the network share I am trying to use is attached to my Win 11 PC…and sharing is enabled on that drive and folder. I tried both an internal hdd and a usb 3.0 drive attached to my W11 PC. also when setting up sharing, i checked share with everyone.

Ok…I was able to perform a backup to my NAS (not where I usually backup to)…the NAS is under This PC/network/NAS’ name/music library backup …I put in the path and my NAS login info and it worked… Now how do I get it to do the same to the internal or external drives attached to my pc?

Use the drive letter assigned by Windows not the UNC path like as is done with a network share, i.e. NAS.

I figured it out…I used the procedure here and was able to add another hdd in my pc
