· I'm on ROCK server version 2.66 (build 1658). Apparently there's a new software version but when Roon Remote (Windows or Android) attempts to download the new version I get the error message, "There was an error checking for an update." I tried rebooting my ROCK server, and the results are the same.
Thanks for the details. Do you have the default ISP DNS servers set up? We’re wondering whether this could be related to your ISP’s DNS routing the traffic over.
We have seen users have a better experience in the past if they change their Router’s DNS servers from the ISP provided ones to Cloudflare DNS, Quad9 or Google DNS. Can you please give this a try and let me know if it helps?
If that still does not work, you can try to perform a Backup and then an Operating System reinstall from the Web UI and that should get you on the latest Roon version.
Thank you for following up and letting us know! I am very glad to hear that performing the Operating System reinstall from the Web UI did the trick, and that your ROCK server is now successfully updated and running the latest version.
Sometimes a fresh OS install is exactly what the system needs to clear out those stubborn update loops when network adjustments don’t quite push it through.
Since everything is back up and running smoothly, I will go ahead and close this thread. If you run into any other questions or issues down the road, please do not hesitate to open a new topic—we are always here to help.
