Describe the issue

My Roon Core is a Macbook. I have had my music stored on a networked server but have moved it to a USB flash drive. When I connect this drive to my Mac though, it does not show up in Roon/Settings/Storage. I have enabled file sharing for the USB drive. Thanks!

Describe your network setup

Everything is wired by Ethernet to my network switch and router

Hi @Josh_Raymond,

Thank you for your post. Can you confirm the USB drive is visible in Finder or another program? We want to make sure the OS has mounted the drive properly.

If you’re using a shared external USB port, try connecting the USB stick directly to a port on the computer itself to make sure the USB bus has adequate power.

If that doesn’t work, open Applications → Utilities → Disk Utility and verify that the USB drive is mountable and undamaged.

Unplug and replug the drive. Next, close Roon and relaunch.

We’ll pull diagnostics in the meantime to see if there are any mount errors with RoonServer on the Mac.

Thank you and we’ll watch for a response.

Hi Connor,

Thanks for the quick reply. The USB drive is visible in Finder and is connected directly to the computer itself. It looks fine in Disk Utility too. I have tried restarting Roon and the computer and disconnecting and reconnecting the drive. When I try to choose a music storage folder it still only gives me the option of Macintosh HD and something called Recovery. Thanks!

Hi @Josh_Raymond ,

Can you please confirm how the USB drive is formatted, is it using NTFS, MacOS Journaled, exFAT, or another format?

It is exFAT

Hi @Josh_Raymond ,

Thanks for confirming that aspect. I wonder if this could be related to your MacOS security settings. Can you please check and ensure that Roon has “Full Disk Access” enabled?
