Use a USB DAC attached to remote MacBook Air through Airplay

I am running roon server 1.8 (old MacBook Pro) and want to listen through a usb dac attached to a MacBook Air M1.

Description of Issue

I select the MacBook Air as a device but do not see the attached DAC. Is this doable? or does the DAC need to be attached to the device running Roon Server?

Hi @Eli_Camhi, welcome to the community. Yes, this is absolutely doable. Can you take a screenshot of your Settings → Audio so we can see what is available to the Core? The M1 should have Roon or Roon Bridge running on it, and may also need to have its firewall settings updated to allow exceptions for Roon and RAATServer.

Wow that was easy. I installed Roon on the MacBook Air M1 and attached the DAC. Checked in Audio settings and there it was. I enabled it and selected as an output> Played a song and its all good. Thanks for your quick response.
