Description Of Issue

Using Roon at the same time as playing League of legends causes frame rate drops. As soon as music is paused frame rate returns to normal. I have 1080ti i9 9900k at 5ghz 32gb ram, no idea why its doing it. I would love to be able to listen to music while gaming but the frame rate drop is causing a huge problem.

Is it over-stressing your network?

I dont think so, i have task manager open and roon is really low in the list, network usage is also low

Is the Roon core running on the gaming pc? Core is quite CPU intensive, so FPS drop is quite expected.

Yeah its on my pc also

If you are running the Roon control on your gaming pc it will consume gpu time. Roon ui uses opengl and runs more like a game engine than a traditional desktop app.

why roon?
Let’s ask the developers of League of legends. The game gets slow when I listen to music with roon. :yum:

Hi @joel_spink,

As mentioned above, there are a couple factors that could be playing into this.

  1. Roon is build using technology similar to a game engine. This means your GPU is being used more than it might with other apps not using this technology, and using your GPU for both apps at the same time might be causing issues.

  2. Your Roon Core is going to use more resources than just a remote. If possible, you might want to try running your Core on a different machine and using the PC just as a remote so that more resources are available for gaming.

Thanks!
