Original version and, for instance, a remastered version with bonus tracks are never regarded as 2 different versions of the same album and consequently appear as two different albums … Is there a way to make them appear as two different versions of the SAME album (that will show in “other versions of this album”)?

Right click the albums, then Edit, and Group Alternate Versions.
