Perhaps I was just unlucky. I played several classical albums in a row that used the default value. Now I played a rock album that did have volume levelling. It’s apparently a bit hit and miss…
Still, I’m not sure this should be happening as Qobuz does have replaygain data for the album I was playing
But when I pick album levelling, It just seams to pick the gain for the loudest track, -8.1dB in this case. Calculated with the formula album_gain = -10·log10( Σ length·10^(-gain/10) / Σ length ) the album gain should be -5.9dB (but could be of by some tenths of a dB of a gated value).
Hi @Alex_Lubberts, thanks for laying out the examples and the screenshots.
We have a related ticket in this area, and we will add your findings to the investigation. Your notes about the difference between track leveling and album leveling, along with the Qobuz replaygain data, are helpful here.
Thanks again for digging into it so carefully, and we’ll follow up should any further questions come up during the investigation.
