This issue is very much alive. Nothing has changed. Put the iPhone volume down to zero, open Roon and the iPhone volume goes back up. Still a major annoyance.
I get the 100% volume spike sometimes when using my iPad mini 5 as remote running latest iPadOS. iPhone has other issues (losing connection) so I don’t use it anymore.

I have split your posts into a new thread to keep the thread cleaner. Since you are still seeing this, can you please let us know the exact local time + date + track playing when you next observe this issue? Is the jump gradual or sudden to 100%? Is there any other relevant additional information regarding the actions that you are performing in Roon that trigger this?
Hello noris - I haven’t seen the issue recently but will be sure to send details on next occurrence. It is a sudden jump where I had the volume set to 25 and was playing fine. Then one day I launch the app and hit play only to hear 100% volume. Note that the iPad mini was connected to a bluetooth speaker at the time. I have now switched to a pair of Apple HomePod minis for that location and so far no jumps in volume. Hope these are clues that might help.

The jump in volume on the phone is instant. When you open Roon, the iOS volume jumps to something that it wasn’t before, this can be 100%, but also something else. I shared logs in the past en tried all sorts of things. I changed my phone multiple times since then and moved my core to different systems (I am on a windows 11 system at the moment), I even started Roon completely from scratch at one point (without restoring a backup). It doesn’t happen at specific times or specific tracks. It happens all the time, and has done so for a long time (I see I started the initial thread in august 2022…)
There was a ticket in and the issue was reproduced by multiple people. I suspect it has something to do with Roon wanting to control the Roon volume with the iPhones hardware buttons.
I just tried again at 13:50, 100% reproducable.

Just happened to me (at 21:27 - Seven Sports For All by China Crisis) when starting playback on iPad volume jumped up (not 100%) and deafening on headphones…
