1- Setup a brand new Synology NAS with 1 SMB share and 1 album, same result, Roon will not automatically reflect the changes until I force a scan or the default 4-hours scan schedule kicks in.
2- I setup a spare Ubuntu Desktop client with inotify-tools and Samba/SMB with a share which I added to Roon, the same thing happens there. I can add/remove content and see in my inotify monitors that these files are being seen, but Roon will not show anything until a force scan.
3- I added a USB drive to the Roon ROCK NUC and tested adding/removing folder there and that works as expected
From my research, there is nothing in the network that would impact this (correct me if I am wrong here), all the clients I tested with are on the same network/VLAN.
I would setup a spare machine with a fresh Roon Server install and check if that works, but my license allows me to only login to one Roon Server which is the main one I am using and I am hesitant to mess with that.
A further update, I created a share on one my Windows 11 machines, shared it and added this share as a network location in the storage settings in Roon. The same thing happens there. When I add/remove any new music files there, nothing is refreshed until either I force a scan or wait for the scheduled scans despite the fact that Roon reports it is monitoring in real time.
I am thinking to setup a Roon Server on a spare machine and test to see if this is due to something not working on my current Roon OS or if this is not related.
So far I can replicate this issue on using shares sitting on:
Two separate NAS devices
A new Ubuntu Desktop SMB share
A new Windows 11 Pro desktop machine
Thanks for confirming that aspect. I’d like to run your case by the team for additional review, and I’ve also enabled diagnostics for your account. When you have a moment, please turn on your ROCK so that the diagnostic set is delivered to our servers for review, thanks!
