What are USB3 exfat drives?

@Andrew_Webb,
What are USB3 exfat drives?
I will be looking for storage options for my SonicTransporter after I use up my 1TB of storage.

Most probably a USB 3.x external drive formatted with exFAT.

exFAT is a simple file system format that Microsoft developed for removable drives and then opened up the design specs, so that every operating system now can implement it, for compatibility between systems.

It is the file system that Roon recommends for external drives attached to Roon OS devices (Nucleus, ROCK) because it works equally well with Roon OS itself and also if you attach the disk to a Windows or Mac computer.

USB3 is an interface standard for mobile hard disks and other peripherals.

So you buy a USB3 hard disk and format it as exFAT (which is an option in the disk formatting settings of the computer)

Since asking the question, I see my SonicTransporter has a USB3 port. The SonicTransport webpage has instructions on how to make the attached files visible. Since they are available in 2TB, this is a cheaper option that having to swap out the SSD in the device for a higher capacity one.
To get Roon to see it, I assume in just use the “Add Folder” command in Storage.

Yep, the addition external drive will be listed there once it is attached

Indeed. That’s exactly what they are.
