Though I know that Roon is supposed to automatically pick up any changes to the music folders, I have found that, with my SonicTransporter and attached usb3 exfat drives, it does not. I always have to force a rescan. I’ve never bothered to investigate since the solution is so simple, so I don’t know why this is the case.
